Cenote Azul is located about a 25 minute drive from Playa del Carmen, and the same distance from Tulum. When you drive through Puerto Aventuras, you'll see it on the right hand side after only a few miles/km.

If you're not driving there yourself, it's quite easy to get there on a Colectivo, which is a small van that will leave every 10 minutes from Playa del Carmen, or if you're coming from Tulum, it's approximately the same. The bus fare is around 40-50 pesos per person.

It's important to tell the driver to stop at Cenote Azul, because they won't just stop if you don't tell them. I usually keep my GPS on on my phone and remind the driver again just before we get there. Entrance fee to the cenote is 100 pesos for children under 8, and 150 for adult

Sunday is the busiest day because a lot of locals will take advantage of their day off. Other days are much more quiet. But we never had the feeling of it being over crowded.

You’ll see little, and a little bigger fishes everywhere. But nothing scary.

As you can see, there are many beautifully colored ones!

And if you’re lucky, you might even get a fish foot spa, all free of charge! They nibble on the dead skin on your legs or feet. It’s a bit tickly though!

The mangrove surrounding the cenote gives you a feeling of being in paradise. Actually, we are! It's amazing to be here. I feel so blessed!

Even though it was busy, there are always spots without people. It’s a lovely place to relax!

Here, my son was pointing out a termite’s nest high up in the tree. Amazing!

There is a spot where people jump off a little cliff. It’s actually higher than it looks!

What an amazing spot. The water is SO clear and just lovely and cold. But it’s great to jump in on a hot day. Very refreshing!

I was testing my GoPro Hero10 to see if action photos and videos were as good as promised. So I had to try a few things here.

Here's my kiddos jumping.

I wouldn’t do it myself. So enough time to take photos of them! This is a still of the video I made.

I believe the camera performs quite well, even under water without additional lighting.

This place is definitely worth a visit. It's worth the money, especially if you go in the morning. On weekdays you won't find many people there, aside from a few tourists. But there are so many cenotes, the chance that people all go to one and the same is very small. It's a great day to spend away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and have a relaxed fun day with the whole family (or alone hehe). I hope you've enjoyed this post.

Thank you for reading!
