Headed out from Port Elibabeth later yesterday and managed to get to Jeffrey's Bay before sundown.
Checked into a self catering place along the coast 1 minute walk to the beach is a great opportunity to get in some beach runs. Headed out early this morning at around 5am to catch the sunrise while I took a steady easy pace along the coast line.
Stopped a few times to take some photos and some video. Nearly had the ocean gobble up Gopro had to scurry in to catch it before it got sucked up into the surf.
The gorgeous beaches were empty with only a few fellow runners and a couple of fisherman. Did a short run. As I wanted to really take in the scenery.
Got back to the house and then went out to pace my cousin and his wife on a 80km cycle ride through the mountain pass between Jeffrey's Bay towards Port Elizabeth.
Drove behind while they climbed the hills with what seemed like impossible ease. I used to cycle but switched to running, but I certainly think I would have a hard time keeping up with these 2. They are preparing for the Extreme Ride 4 Hunger 2020 in March. I will being doing some coverage photos, drone and video footage.
After around 3 hours doing 80km. 40km out and 40km back to Jbay we were all starving and headed out to what I think is one of the best restaurants in Jbay called Nina's.
They truly make delightfully delicious meals with a wide range of choices without compromising on the quality, freshly made. The choices of drinks from posh milkshakes to smoothies and home made juices fresh to order.
They also have a wide range of homemade ice creams that will blow the tastebuds off your tongue. They sell home craft and craft beer. They have a dedicated shushi bar with a dedicated Japanese guy making shushi all day long. Each part of the menu is handled by an expert in that cuisine.
Nina's interior is brilliantly decorated with retro styling and all the walls are adorned with local artist work which is for sale. From oils to prints and photographs reasonably priced. The service levels are very high and the staff and watrons are extremely friendly and welcoming.
Ninas is definately one worth checking out if ever you find yourself in Jeffrey's Bay.
After having said that. Jbay is filled with great restaurants and different styled places to eat. So you will definately be spoiled for choice. Will be trying out a few more place and try to right a bit about them too.
After lunch and desert and then some ice cream we headed out to the beach for a quick dip in the ocean and to burn off some of those extra calories.
Having the last days of summer fun and consciously doing what you want when you want and not feeling pressure to do anything you do not want to, and being free to change your mind does wonders for the soul
Happy weekend everyone. Finding the beauty.*
