I showed you the magnificent Charles Bridge in Prague in my last article. It's one of many reasons you should visit Prague, and a dream destination for architecture photography.
Another reason is the many towers in the city. Prague is also called the City of a Hundred Spires, and the Powder Tower is one of them. This Gothic tower is located not far from Old Town Square. And the best thing about it is you can get to the top.
It has been a few years since I've been up there, so the prices have increased slightly. But with a bit less than eight Euros, it is money well spent, as you can see in this photo. From the top of the tower, you have a fantastic view toward Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and all the way to Prague Castle, the Hrad.
The opening hours might be a problem though if you visit in summer. The Powder Tower, like most towers in Prague, closes roughly around sunset. The times vary throughout the year. You can stay well until sunset and photograph into the Blue Hour in winter. In summer, you might miss the sunset on some days.
So make sure to check the opening and sunset times for your desired visit because you can take the best photos just after sunset when the city lights are on. With a long exposure, you can turn the bustle in the streets into a flow of ghosts.
I'm curious: Have you ever been to Prague? What are your favorite locations in the city? Let me know in the comments.
