This visit to the Siantar City museum was actually not planned. The distance from my city to the city of Siantar is approximately 400 KM so if I only intended to go to this city I would feel it would be very ineffective. So when my husband and I went on a motorbike tour to Samosir Island last time and on our return we passed Siantar City and accidentally passed the Museum in the center of Siantar City, we decided to stop for a while and rest to straighten our slightly gouty waist and go to the toilet. Our visit here didn't last long, only a short time of around 30 minutes.
And unlike most museums that I visit which are usually filled with royal relics or ancestral remains of this city. The Siantar city museum is very unique. Starting from the stage building which is quite small and very simple compared to the museums I have visited before. However, this museum building has its own artistic value with regional and nationalistic values that are united here, this building is very ethnic and if we enter Inside there is nothing that amazes us, only the collections of Batik cloth which are typical of this region. However, it is different if we are outside the Museum grounds.
In the Museum Yard, at first glance, there is nothing interesting about this place, only a collection of stones, which at first I thought were just decorations to enliven the atmosphere, but who would have thought that these stones were the ones that made my knowledge increase because there was a lot of knowledge there. here, but unfortunately it looks like these stones have to undergo maintenance so that their appearance is much fresher again and the grass in the museum yard really needs to be tidied up so that the stones in this yard are no longer underestimated like I just arrived recently
These stones have their own names and histories, for example the Pengulu Balam Stone whose stone no longer has a shape. The Pengulu Balam stone means traditional ruler, and I saw several other types of Pengulu Balang stones, such as the one in front of the museum, where the stone looks like a mother hugging two children. then there is a stone called the Atippa stone which means affection or sympathy, I don't understand why these symbols are arranged like that but I respect it and just don't damage it, then there are many types of stones that have many other meanings.
Apart from having a large collection of stones, in the museum yard, which is quite large, we can also see the activities of local people who I saw were still at school age. They hold traditional dance practices to be performed in this museum every week so that people outside Siantar City know the dances. Traditional dance that must be performed as part of the Batak tribe in North Sumatra Province, Indonesia.
This very unique museum should be of concern to the local government so that this place and the museum collection are made even more attractive so that it attracts local and non-local tourists and of course foreign tourists. And greetings from Maytom Indonesia with the next posts from me. Thank you for reading my blog.
