Today I have something delicious again! And this time not from Thailand, but from neighboring Cambodia. Because on my last trip through the country I tried some new dishes. Here I will name you my favorites.

1. Lok Lak

Lok Lak is a very simple dish and you can choose from different types of meat. The most popular here is beef. Sliced meat or meat strips are fried and refined with some sauces.

It's served on salad and if you want, there is also a fried egg on top of it. As I said, very simple. For me Lok Lak was never boring and I have always ordered it in many variations.

2. Cambodian Sandwich: Num Pang

Actually, this street food is almost the number 1 for me. In case you've been to Vietnam and liked the Vietnamese sandwich Banh Mi, you'll love Num Pang too!

The sandwich consists of a baguette bread and it's filled with a pate and a variety of sausages. There is also some vegetables inside and what should not be missing is the certain spiciness. Unusual for a sandwich, but absolutely delicious.

3. Lort Cha

A delicious street food for in between. Thick, short noodles fried with vegetables and then refined with a special sauce. If you want you can order with meat, too. Very cheap, quickly cooked and simply good.

Lort Cha in Phnom Penh

Although I only tried Lort Cha once in Phnom Penh, I would already consider it as one of my favorites.

4. Bai Sach Chrouk

A popular breakfast dish that is absolutely hearty. Marinated and grilled pork on rice. That may sound simple and even boring, but it's really tasty. The special thing for the taste is also the sauce, which is served together with the meal.

Why is not 'Amok' on the list?

Amok is considered the national dish of Cambodia. Well, no question, it's really delicious. But it didn't stun me that much. I have eaten it on the Cambodia trip only 2 times. After that, it lost its charm a little bit to me. Don't get me wrong, Amok is delicious and you should definitely try it. Maybe I'm just too spoiled by the selection of Thai curries ;)

Have you ever been to Cambodia and tried the local cuisine? If so, what was your favorite dish?
