Now I'm in Germany for already a month and still enjoying the summer. Nevertheless, I already miss my island Koh Phangan, especially its beaches. Of course, as a North German I'm never far away from the sea, but the Baltic Sea or the North Sea is obviously no comparison to the tropical paradise beaches of Thailand.

One of them is Malibu Beach. Actually, it's not the true name of this beach and it got this name only from the resident Malibu Beach Bungalows resort. More specifically, Malibu Beach is only part of Chaloklum Beach in the north of the island. But when you talk about Malibu Beach, you just know that this stretch of beach is meant. Besides, it's just a nice name :)
Welcome to Malibu Beach
I would say that this beach has (next to Haad Rin) the whitest and finest sand of Koh Phangan. Outstanding is the large sandbar at the end of the beach. You can also swim in this piece of paradise very well. BUT only if the water level is high enough. At low tide, the water only goes to your stomach at most. Be sure to pay attention to the tides before a visit. For snorkeling, the water is unfortunately not suitable, but it has pleasant bathtub temperatures due to the low water level.
In the restaurant right on the beach you can also eat or just have a drink. With this scenery it's simply a pleasure. The prices are, of course, slightly above the standard but still affordable I think. Otherwise, you can also walk along the Chaloklum beach to the village and eat there.
However, there is one thing that annoys on this beach: sandflies. On the beach section where the sandbank is, they are most frequently represented. The further east you go, the less likely they are to be found. So don't let them bite you and/or protect yourself with bug spray.
