🇬🇧 What are you looking at ?

I just spent two weeks in a shipyard for the maintenance of my catamaran. The Mindelo shipyard in Cape Verde is not made for pleasure boats like mine. This is a shipyard for professional fishing or passenger transport vessels. Everything is made of metal, everything weighs heavily and everything is dirty! At night, the men of the stripping work until 11:00 p.m. and use the old technique of sandblasting to clean the hulls of ships. So, that makes dust. And dust in the light and at night, it looks nice! So that’s what I spent my nights when I had the strength to go out at night in the construction site.

🇬🇧 Post Production

🇬🇧 On the post-production side, I spent some time creating masks in order to leave the men in color and move the rest into black and white. This is to highlight the work of these incredible guys. For this, I am working on a French software called Photolab DXO.

Je viens de passer deux semaines sur un chantier naval pour la maintenance de mon catamaran. Le chantier de Mindelo, au Cap-Vert n'est pas fait pour les bateaux de plaisance comme le mien. Il s'agit d'un chantier pour navires professionnels de pêche ou de transport de passagers. Tout est en métal, tout pèse lourd et tout est sale ! La nuit les hommes du décapage travaille jusqu'à 23h00 et utilisent la vieille technique du sablage pour nettoyer les coques des navires. Du coup, ça fait de la poussière. Et la poussière dans la lumière et de nuit, ça fait joli ! Donc voilà à quoi je passait mes nuits lorsque j'avais la force de sortir de nuit dans le chantier.

🇫🇷 Post Production

Côté post-prod j'ai passé un peu de temps à créer des masques afin de laisser en couleurs les hommes et de passer le reste en noir et blanc. Ceci afin de mettre en avant le travail de ces types incroyables. Pour cela, je travaille sur un logiciel français appelé Photolab DXO.
