Sometimes you need a little getaway to refresh your mind or just reflect and pause. Thatโ€™s what I did with my family early this month. We just finished with grandma memorials and wanted to start anew. That was the first trip we did as a family starting fresh. So, we decided to go to a nearby hot spring. The place is located an hour drive from where I live and has been a hotspot and popular place for people to getaway. Despite that, it was my first time as an adult going back there.

We started the journey a little late in the afternoon and my dad was the one who was excited the most because apparently he believed that dipping his feet into 40C water is therapeutic. I never knew that since I never did that even as a kid.

The place is surrounded by pine trees and humble settlements of the villagers. Itโ€™s still a little untouched by development and nothing fancy. Itโ€™s like locals raised some funds to build this area where people can enjoy some type of onsen.

The hot springs here are natural and they contain sulfur. So, itโ€™s best to be careful and for my dad who used to go here, told me a lot of interesting stories about how his friend once fainted in the area due to dipping for too long. I donโ€™t know if that was because of the sulfur or something else.

This is the view throughout the journey, itโ€™s soothing and when we got to the area, I saw squirrels jumping around and it was the stillness that was so relaxing and beautiful.

Since it was not the weekend, the place was a little less vacant. According to my parents who have been here quite often, they mentioned that during the weekend the place is extremely packed. Itโ€™s almost weird that you canโ€™t even enjoy the bath for yourself. At the time I was visiting, we were lucky that some were empty and we got to enjoy the pool, though some spots are filled with other families who are also trying to enjoy this hot bath.

There are a few spots like this in the area and we went to the one called Full Hot Springs. The place is the cleanest of them all despite, you see, green water like this below. To get into the hot springs we have to pay around $1.5 per person. Paying through the area is something I always hate about going around in Indonesia. There are too many fees and sometimes a double and unnecessary entrance ticket.

We spent around an hour in and out of the bath and enjoyed the view and quietness of the place. This place got me thinking about experience vs things and how I really want a week to be in nature, unbothered by everything and just enjoying the time. I havenโ€™t had that in a while but that was a lite version of what I truly dreamed of lately.

In the place, they also have a cold pool which is around 23.6 C and it feels so refreshing to swim there. I tried the cold ones and then went back to the less warmer spot which is around 35 C and that felt really good.

Here's the second pool with the 35C temperature. Next to that pool is the 40C pool where people go there more than the other pools. Afterall, it was the pool that was steaming hot.

It was really refreshing and so serene dipping your feet and seeing that type of view. They also have showers and toilet that are pretty modern and nice. I was pleasantly surprised and apparently, after talking to the ticketing staffs, the place is having some renovation. I guess me and my family are chatty during this type of adventure and we also got help from the staff because my dad is almost unable to walk without a help.

After my parents were done with their dip, we got back to explore the other areas of this town. Just around 10 minutes drive from there, there are specific areas where we can shop for vegetables and cheap strawberries and berries.

My mom told me that there is a famous dessert from the place that is quite good and made from sticky rice. I forgot the name but it was sweet and yummy. This is how it was sold, quite traditional and pretty humble.

I got back with a box of strawberries and some vegetables that we all got less than $0.800. It was such a steal and we got a few bags for Ray and his family too.

One thing I definitely regret is how I also lost a few pictures from this trip too. But thatโ€™s okay, hopefully I could come back there again and be able to take more cool pictures from the area. See you in my next travelogue!
