We're currently on holiday in the Gold Coast Australia, which is famous for its golden beaches, sun, and surf. We were excited about making the most of that, however since our arrival to our disappointment we have been bombarded with wet weather. It's meant that we have had to reschedule our plans, and find something to make our time here both enjoyable and memorable.
It was still wet and humid today, so we went chasing a secluded natural swimming spot, and here is what we found
Our adventure began with a 20minute drive through the Currumbin Valley, which was a beautiful experience in itself. The roads were surrounded by mist covered mountains, lush green grasses, and an assortment of large trees. The serenity and peacefulness out there was just what we wanted, nestled only 20 minutes away from the hustle of the Gold Coast city.
After a 20 minute drive through the exquisite valley ( My wife would go as far as saying it was the highlight of the trip ) we arrived at a segment of the Springbrook national park. Springbrook is renowned for plenty of waterfalls, and after a few days of consistent rain we were hopeful for plenty of water.
After a short walk through the bush absorbing the awe of beauty that it possessed, we reached a creek. We followed the creek, which would lead to a small waterfall, rock pools, and swimming hole.
We reached the rock pools, and they didn't disapoint. The water was super fresh, it flows down from the mountains obviously, and after all the rain there was plenty of it.
We were lucky enough to have this experience all to ourselves. While swimming in the ocean is nice, there's something completely different about swimming in fresh natural water. Since the sun wasn't out it was pretty chilly, so it was just a quick swim today.
This secluded spot is a real hidden gem, nestled in the most picturesque of valleys. On a scorching hot day, this is definately the place to be, and we plan to return when that is the case.
After a quick swim, we made the return walk to the car, and set off to enjoy the drive back through the Currumbin Valley. Still can't get over how secluded, serene, and peaceful it is. That, and the fact that its hidden just minutes away from the busy streets of the Gold Coast.
Thats the beauty of the Gold Coast for me. Not only does it boast some of the most sought after beaches in the world, but it has an abundance of natural land formations and forestation that is second to none.
Hope you guys enjoy the review of our experience chasing a hidden swimming spot surrounded by the beauty of nature, we did.
