Good Morning Travel Fiends
Today I’m going to share with you an adventure into the lush rainforests of the Lamington National Park, as we seek to explore its tranquility.
About this time last year, we headed to the Gold Coast for a holiday. We’re nature lovers, so of course we wanted to escape the beaches and explore the nature that this area has on offer.
We were actually meant to do the Moran Falls Circuit, which was significantly shorter in hiking distance. First mistake is I left my wife in charge of the directions, ultimately ending up at the wrong entrance into the national park. Instead we decided we’d attack the Coomera Falls Circuit, and see what that encompassed.
Entering the Rainforest
Lamington National Park lies about 80km west of the Gold Coast, and takes about an hours driving to reach this entry point.
Lamington National Park consists of over 20,000 hectares of land, and is renowned for its beautiful natural environment, walking tracks, mountain views, waterfalls, bird life, and amazing forestry.
It was home to the Aboriginal people for thousands of years, and truly is an area with such diversity and beauty.
The Stunning Trees
As we endeavoured our journey through the rainforest, the thing that stood out the most was the diversity of the trees that existed. Also the shear size and presence of some of these trees were immense. They must be hundreds of years in age, and we’re truly mesmerising to adventure through.
The peacefulness was unreal too. The only noises we could hear were birds constantly singing, and the flowing of water in rivers as we approached them.
Reaching the Falls
After hiking for about 8km, the sound of the falls began to grow stronger. By then my wife’s patience had begun to deteriorate as it had been quiet a long walk, but the promise of the beautiful views kept the legs moving.
It must have felt like we’d never reach the falls to her, and I was copping it at that point. That was until we reached the lookout, and presented with these amazing views.
It had been raining earlier that morning, which made the spectacle of the waterfalls that much better. We were quite high up, and it was amazing looking down below.
The photo’s don’t really do the views justice unfortunately, as it was quite a distance. The crashing of the water down below was immense, and the view from up top amazing. Definitely worth the slightly challenging hike.
We stayed up at the lookout, soaking up the beautiful views for a while. After that we embarked on our journey back through the lush rainforest.
This section of the Lamington National Park is breathtakingly stunning. The diversity of trees, and bird life. The opportunity to explore numerous walking tracks, and the peacefulness of being surrounded by nothing but nature. Amazing.
We definitely plan on attacking some more segments of this national park on our next holiday.
Hope you guys enjoyed our journey through the Coomera Falls Circuit, and are having awesome weekends ✌️
