Good afternoon to all, I hope everybody's having an awesome weekend. We certainly are, in which I'd like to share today's adventure with you all.

Today we travelled to the beautiful Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve that is located in a hidden gem of a town on the Sunshine Coast, called Maleny. We spent a few hours here exploring various rainforest walks, soaking in the vibrant nature and wildlife that exists in this amazing ecosystem.

This scenic reserve encompasses 55 hectares of subtropical rainforest, with breathtaking views that overlook the famous glasshouse mountains. Come and have a look yourselves, hope you enjoy the journey as much as we did.

Travelling along the Steve Irwin Highway, as we get closer to the town of Maleny. Beautiful blue skies today, and the pine trees looking greener than ever due to an abundance of rain this summer.

Maleny is notorious for its breathtaking panoramic views, cafes, coffee houses, and its cool fresh air. It's an extremely popular place for holiday makers, and day trippers who seek to explore its beauty and peacefulness.

View of the lush green grass and trees as we make it to the top of the hill. It’s a pretty steep drive in places, but easily manageable.

Can see one of the Glasshouse Mountains in the distance if you look closely. They are awesome for a day trip too if you’re feeling a bit more adventurous than we were today.

Here we are, we’ve reached our destination.

Today we decided to embark on a short 2km rainforest walk that would take us through the diverse nature that exists. A vast array of trees, canopy, wildlife, and insects coexist in this unique environment. This rainforest lies in the heart of the Jinibara Country, in which they were the ancient caretakers of the land.

Listen deeply, watch attentively, and tread lightly.. Excellent words to abide by.

This photo is of our entrance into the rainforest. Instantly we could hear the cries of the Green Catbird, which you could easily mistake for a child’s cry if you were none the wiser.

Some massive vines dangling down, ferns, and some massive canopy. A photo with such a diverse mix.

One of the many skyscrapers we witnessed as we trekked our way through the rainforest. The size of these trees was phenomenal.

Here we passed signage highlighting the array of different birds that are nestled within this ecosystem. Birds to keep watch for.

And would you look at that. We found a small Yellow Throated Scrubwren rummaging the forest floor for the berries these trees provide.

A better photo showing the abundance of berries on the forest floor. A beautiful purple colour, adding some colour to our adventure.

Probably the highlight of the trip for me here. We spotted a Joey (Baby Kangaroo) also enjoying a feed.

He felt fairly comfortable around us, and continued to go about his rummaging. A bigger group was following behind us, and once he heard them he hustled back into the wilderness.

The 2km trek took us about an hour to complete, because we were continuously stopping and soaking up the amazing nature and wildlife. We also saw numerous birds we couldn't get photos of, insects, and the wife even got a little souvenir as a leech latched to her leg much to her displeasure and my amusement 🤣

After we had finished exploring the nature, it was time for lunch. They have a Cafe with breathtaking views looking over the Glasshouse Mountains, and since it was such a glorious day we decided we'd eat there.

Chilli Tomato and Prawn Spaghetti was the winner on the day, happy wife after that.

A local artist painting portraits of the amazing views. Its hard to see in the photo, but her paintings were awesome. Very talented lady.

There was also numerous barbecue facilities available for use, and picnic tables spread throughout the reserve. There were heaps of people there today making the most of these facilities, spending their weekend immersed in the serenity and peacefulness that exists in Maleny

That concludes our Sunday adventure, in which we enjoyed thoroughly. Being immersed in nature is a medicine of its own, one that we try to get a dose of regularly.

Maleny is a small town that possesses so much beauty, in which this scenic reserve is a significant part of it.

Once again hope you've enjoyed today's experience, and we all have awesome weeks ahead ✌
