nach der tollen Memorial Day Parade wollten wi an diesem Tag noch etwas Entspannung in der Natur genießen. So machten wir uns auf nach Murrels Inlet zum Marsh Walk.

An der wunderschönen Küste von South Carolina, wo sich der Atlantik mit dem Intracoastal Waterway vereint, liegt das malerische Fischerdorf Murrells Inlet. Berühmt für seine frische Meeresluft, seine atemberaubenden Sonnenuntergänge und seinen unvergleichlichen Charme, zieht Murrells Inlet jedes Jahr zahlreiche Besucher an und so auch uns an diesem Tag. Eines der absoluten Highlights des Ortes ist der Marsh Walk, ein 0,8 Kilometer langer Holzsteg, der sich durch die Salzwiesen schlängelt und atemberaubende Ausblicke auf die Natur bietet.

Doch vorher mussten wir uns in einem der schönen Restaurants in Murrels Inlet stärken. Natürlich stilecht mit Meerestieren, Coleslaw und Muschelsuppe. Dazu gab es gratis Live Country Musik von der kleinen Bühne im Restaurant. Weltklasse. Bei herrlichem Wetter und fantastischem Ausblick genossen wir das hervorragende Essen und konnten es kaum erwarten den Marsh Walk zu sehen.

Schon beim ersten Schritt auf den Marsh Walk taucht man in eine andere Welt ein. Das sanfte Rauschen der Wellen, das Zwitschern der Vögel und der Geruch von Salzluft und Kiefernnadeln erfüllen die Luft. Die warme Sonne streicht durch die Blätter der Palmen und Mangroven, und das Licht glitzert auf der Wasseroberfläche. Unser Weg führte vorbei an üppigen Marschgebieten, wo sich Ebbe und Flut in einem faszinierenden Spiel abwechseln. Bei Flut kann man kleine Fische, Krebse und andere Meeresbewohner beobachten, die im seichten Wasser nach Nahrung suchen. Bei Ebbe hingegen erstreckt sich ein weites Wattgebiet, das zum Wandern und Muschelsammeln einlädt.

Der Marsh Walk ist ein Paradies für Tierliebhaber. Wir hatten Glück und konnten hier zahlreiche Vögel beobachten, wie Pelikane, Reiher und Kormorane. Auch Delfine und Meeresschildkröten soll es hier zu sehen geben, leider hatten wir da aber kein Glück. Dafür sahen wir einige sehr große Raubvögel, die wir in der Luft zuerst für Seeadler hielten. Auf dem Boden gelandet entpuppten Sie sich aber als Geier, was unserer Begeisterung jedoch keinen Abbruch tat. Toll diese Tier einmal in der freien Natur sehen zu können. Ich denke, wenn durch die vielen Ausflugsboote, Jetski, Segler, Angler und so weiter nicht so viele Menschen hier gewesen wären, hätten wir noch viel mehr Tiere entdecken können. Vermutlich sollte man sehr früh morgens hier sein, wenn alles noch ruhig da liegt.

Murrells Inlet und der Marsh Walk sind ein Ort zum Träumen und Verweilen. Hier konnten wir die Seele baumeln lassen, die Schönheit der Natur genießen und unvergessliche Momente erleben. Einen Besuch kann ich nur jedem ans Herz legen, der einmal in dieser Gegend zu Besuch ist. Ihr werdet es sicher nicht bereuen.

after the great Memorial Day Parade we wanted to enjoy some relaxation in nature that day. So we headed to Murrels Inlet for the Marsh Walk.

On the beautiful coast of South Carolina, where the Atlantic meets the Intracoastal Waterway, lies the picturesque fishing village of Murrells Inlet. Famous for its fresh sea air, breathtaking sunsets and incomparable charm, Murrells Inlet attracts numerous visitors every year, including us on this day. One of the absolute highlights of the place is the Marsh Walk, a 0.8 kilometer long wooden walkway that winds through the salt marshes and offers breathtaking views of nature.

But first we had to fortify ourselves in one of the beautiful restaurants in Murrels Inlet. Of course in style with seafood, coleslaw and clam chowder. There was also free live country music from the small stage in the restaurant. World class. With wonderful weather and a fantastic view, we enjoyed the excellent food and could hardly wait to see the Marsh Walk.

As soon as you step onto the Marsh Walk, you are immersed in another world. The gentle sound of the waves, the chirping of birds and the smell of salt air and pine needles fill the air. The warm sun strokes through the leaves of the palm trees and mangroves, and the light glitters on the surface of the water. Our path led past lush marshlands where the tides alternate in a fascinating game. At high tide, you can see small fish, crabs and other sea creatures looking for food in the shallow water. At low tide, however, a wide mudflat area stretches out, inviting you to hike and collect shells.

The Marsh Walk is a paradise for animal lovers. We were lucky and were able to see numerous birds here, such as pelicans, herons and cormorants. Dolphins and sea turtles are also said to be seen here, but unfortunately we were not lucky. Instead, we saw some very large birds of prey, which we initially thought were sea eagles when we were in the air. When they landed on the ground, they turned out to be vultures, but that didn't dampen our enthusiasm. It was great to see these animals in the wild. I think if there hadn't been so many people here because of the many excursion boats, jet skis, sailors, anglers and so on, we would have been able to spot many more animals. You should probably be here very early in the morning when everything is still quiet.

Murrells Inlet and the Marsh Walk are a place to dream and linger. Here we were able to unwind, enjoy the beauty of nature and experience unforgettable moments. I can only recommend a visit to anyone who visits this area. You certainly won't regret it.
