Bienvenidos!! Hoy los llevo a un paseo corto, pero bellísimo en la Ciudad de Buenos Aires. Es muy famoso y conocido, el Barrio Chino ubicado en el bajo Belgrano! Hace mucho volví ya por Buenos Aires y tenía muchas ganas de ir de compras por aquí.

Welcome! Today I take you to a short but beautiful walk in the city of Buenos Aires. It is very famous and well known, the Chinatown located in lower Belgrano! I've been back in Buenos Aires for a long time and I really wanted to go shopping here.

Lo primero a tener en cuenta, es que estos "emblemáticos" barrios chinos, fueron inventados por los norteamericanos, cuando querían convertir su país en un sitio mejor para los inmigrantes que llegaban de China, entonces idearon este tipo de barrios y sus características decoraciones, los dragones, las grandes columnas y algunas otras cosas como los detalles de color rojo y dorado, casi siempre empujados por una oleada inmigratoria creciente, tanto de China como también Taiwán y no sé si algún otro también.

The first thing to keep in mind is that these "emblematic" Chinese neighborhoods were invented by the Americans, when they wanted to make their country a better place for immigrants arriving from China, so they devised this type of neighborhoods and their characteristic decorations, dragons, large columns and some other things like the details of red and gold, almost always pushed by a growing wave of immigration, both from China and Taiwan and I do not know if any other as well.

Es temprano por la mañana, asique solo hay dos turistas tomándose fotos por aquí, espero un momento y ya tengo el monumento y la calle principal listas y libres para mis fotografías. He venido muchísimas veces, pero en general ha sido en horarios mucho más concurridos, y era imposible obtener esta vista.

It is early in the morning, so there are only two tourists taking pictures around here, I wait a moment and I have the monument and the main street ready and free for my pictures. I have been here many, many times, but usually it has been at much busier times, and it was impossible to get this view.

Mi supermercado favorito aquí no es otro más que este! Y hay variedad de supermercados eh. Pero es que aquí consigo algunos de mis alimentos y condimentos favoritos, y puedo llevar por peso lo que yo desee, no tengo que comprar un paquete de a kilo ni nada extra grande.

My favorite supermarket here is none other than this one! And there are a variety of supermarkets eh. But I get some of my favorite foods and condiments here, and I can carry by weight what I want, I don't have to buy a kilo package or anything extra large.

Me aventuro en otro super, siempre soy curiosa, aunque no como pescado y muchos de ellos son especialidades por aquí (incluso tengo un amigo chef que viene aquí a buscar el pescado más fresco que ha conseguido en toda la ciudad) Aquí encuentro muchos dulces, muchos fideos, artículos envasados al vacío que no sé qué son, paso una mañana super agradable viendo si algo me enamora o me intriga para llevarlo a casa y probarlo! escojo así un picante y unas galletas dulces.

I venture into another super, I'm always curious, even though I don't eat fish and many of them are specialties around here (I even have a chef friend who comes here for the freshest fish he's gotten in the whole city) Here I find lots of sweets, lots of noodles, vacuum packed items that I don't know what they are, I spend a super nice morning seeing if something makes me fall in love or intrigues me to take it home and try it! I choose so a spicy and some sweet cookies.

Siempre me alegra en mis paseos, cambiar la vista. Estos faroles podrán verlos también en otras fotografías, pero desde abajo, y con la bandera argentina a un costado, me ha parecido mágico, siempre miro hacia arriba y me cambia el día.

I am always happy on my walks, to change the view. You can also see these lanterns in other photographs, but from below, and with the Argentinean flag on one side, it has seemed magical to me, I always look up and it changes my day.

Encuentro muchos Maneki-neko, tanto pequeños como gigantes; en una tienda hay un cartel enorme "no tocar la pata del gato" imagino que todo el mundo debe ir allí y como yo, tomando fotografías, quizás se dejan llevar y tocan de más. También leo carteles controversiales "Si rompe, paga" y "si roba, paga el doble"

I find many Maneki-neko, both small and giant; in one store there is a huge sign "do not touch the cat's paw" I imagine everyone must go there and like me, taking pictures, maybe they get carried away and touch too much. I also read controversial posters "If you break, you pay" and "if you steal, you pay double".

Otro destello llamativo de estas pocas calles, es que debajo de su nombre en castellano, tenemos la traducción al Chino, mi apellido es Mendoza, y aunque no sé como se pronuncia, ahora sé como se escribe en chino, no?

Another striking feature of these few streets, is that below its name in Spanish, we have the Chinese translation, my last name is Mendoza, and although I do not know how to pronounce it, now I know how to write it in Chinese, right?

Me sorprende que siendo hora temprana y una calle semi peatonal, hayan tantos autos estacionados. Igualmente los conductores se manejan con mucho cuidado por estas calles, y el respeto al peatón es distinto que en el resto de la ciudad. Mucho más agradable y aceptable, lo cual invita al paseo.

I am surprised that being an early hour and a semi-pedestrian street, there are so many parked cars. Drivers drive very carefully on these streets, and the respect for pedestrians is different than in the rest of the city. Much more pleasant and acceptable, which invites to walk.

Barrancas de Belgrano, está literalmente al frente, en la esquina, no caminas más de 100 metros para llegar a él. Este sitio suele juntar gente que descansa, gente que estudia, amigos que se juntan a practicar alguna destreza (baile, coreografía, y otros proyectos) y además es muy amplio y bien iluminado, aunque cuenta con sombra también para los que no son amantes del sol. La gente del barrio va hacia aquí a asolearse también y a pasear con sus mascotas. Y tenemos también la nueva estación de tren, vista desde las barrancas, mucho más organizado, tanto para los pasajeros del tren, como para los buses.

Barrancas de Belgrano, is literally in front, on the corner, you do not walk more than 100 meters to get to it. This place usually gathers people who rest, people who study, friends who get together to practice some skill (dance, choreography, and other projects) and it is also very spacious and well lit, although it also has shade for those who are not sun lovers. People from the neighborhood also come here to sunbathe and to walk their pets. And we also have the new train station, seen from the ravine, much more organized, both for train passengers and buses.

Y por último les comparto otro hito llamativo para mi, el lado artístico, si bien hay muchos muchos grafitis geniales por aquí, estos resultaron mis favoritos, y los más fotografiables, ya que algunos se encuentran muy elevados o en las persianas de las tiendas, solo capturo las que aún están cerradas.

And finally I share with you another striking landmark for me, the artistic side, while there are many many great graffiti around here, these were my favorites, and the most photographable, as some are very high or on the shutters of the stores, I only capture those that are still closed.
