Hello friends. Recently we arrived in a very small and interesting town in Costa Dorada. It’s an old fishing village because there’s an ancient and large anchor here and it’s close to the harbor. We had a special plan for this place. We had decided to go swimming with giant tuna.

After walking around the town’s streets for a bit, we reached the starting point of our tuna tour. We had to be here half an hour before the boat departs. Inside there were some souvenirs, diving masks, t-shirts and various products made from seafood, ranging from 20 to 30 Euros.

At check-in they told us about a package that includes a catamaran ride, swimming and tasting of red tuna. There are different packages: you can simply take the catamaran to the tuna farms and observe from a distance or you can swim with the tuna by getting a mask with the swimming package. There are also options for diving or adding a tasting. If you’re going on the tour, you should definitely bring a swimsuit, mask and towel.

On the catamaran we joined for this sea journey, there were restrooms, showers and changing cabins. We chose to stay on the lower deck, where there were comfortable seats and tables where we could sit easily. This catamaran is very large, with a capacity of up to 70 people. So it could be a great idea for organizing events with a large group. The journey lasts only 2 hours.

We arrived at the swimming area, where we swim in farms where giant tuna are kept. We approached the area with the tuna. This is not just a regular tour, it’s a tasting tour. We went to the bar and got our tasting set. There were beer, cava or soft drinks available. You can choose a drink along with the fresh raw tuna tasting. Options like beer, cava, or water are available.

The tour was great, but I realized that it feels good to be grounded. Next time I’ll research how to get rid of seasickness. The catamaran was enjoyable and for 54 Euros, it offers quite a fun experience. I would recommend this tour to anyone in Costa Dorada looking to do something close to the sea. Swimming with giant tuna, taking a catamaran ride and tasting fresh tuna is a very different and exciting experience.

The tour involves taking a catamaran and traveling for 20 minutes to a special farm where the tuna are located. You begin swimming among big waves, taking amazing photos and swimming alongside giant tuna. The tuna are huge, some weighing up to 450 kg and they are quite safe. I recommend wearing a mask while swimming. If you only take the catamaran tour, you won’t be taken into the sea to swim, so I suggest choosing the tour that includes the swimming option as well.

After the tour we set out in search of a restaurant because I was a bit hungry since I didn’t try the tuna during the tasting. This place is 1.5 hours away from Barcelona, a small but very beautiful town. We ordered patatas bravas, tartare and sashimi from the tapas menu. We wanted to try seafood and small local fish.

The food was very good. That’s how our day went. We swam with tuna and tried different flavors. These kinds of tours may not appeal to everyone, but it was a great adventure for me. However, I would recommend taking precautions for seasickness. I wouldn’t advise doing this tour without taking measures such as medicine, gum or wristbands. On the way back I realized I missed solid ground, but still, this experience was amazing.
