Fascinating Land Formations

(A very high top down view of a the jetty/ road.)

The central western coast of Trinidad is filled mostly with mangroves and peppered with fishing enthusiasts as well as those that do it for a living. There are a few beaches but more fascinatingly are huge man made spits where the sea was filled in and the area is elevated to make a jetty that has a road built in. I'm not sure if there is an actual name for this but that is the best way I can describe it. As you can see from the photo above, it is used as a jetty of sorts while the roadway is used to park cars and for vendors the ply their trades (as well as facilitate the offloading and loading of boats from vehicles).

The location we are at today is called Orange Valley and as I described earlier, the coastline is basically ocean meets mangrove wetland which is great as it provides natural protection against floods, storms and other natural adversaries. This also means that the marine fauna of the area is thriving! But this visit did not involve fishing in any way shape or form. I Just came to get some sunsets on the west coast!

There is not much to see while the sun is up and some would call the muddy dirty look of the shore somewhat unappealing but I just wanted to illustrate how much this place transforms at sunset. The area is mostly farmlands with industrial estates all around, hardly what you would consider a sight seeing location. I spent the next few hours getting drone shots and video as well as preparing my gear for the sunset. I intended to get a hyper lapse of the sunset with the drone. This would entail the drone moving ever so slowly while taking photos in intervals that would need to be compiled later on into footage, you'll see!

(I sent up the drone just in time to get the sun's movement to the horizon)

As sunset approached the clouds formed a brilliant, almost perfect scene and the once brown dirty ocean reflected the brilliant orange hues of the sunset and turned into a heavenly scene all together. I could not have asked for any better weather conditions either! The wind was calm and so the footage did not come out shaky at all!

(Hyperlapse of the sunset with one of the man made spits in the foreground.)

The hyper lapse was even more amazing when I got home and checked it out! I didn't notice before but I managed to capture the movement of a boat making its way to the shore and as well as the wind skimming across the surface of the water in the opposite direction the waves! So fascinating! The boat looked like a bug moving through sand almost. What I loved the most about this hyperlapse was that you could see the clouds move in unison as if towards the sun as it approached the horizon.

See how the location totally transformed from a dirty muddy scene into a beautiful orange scene? I love to find locations like that! And I have found many that I will definitely share with you! This was the most fun I had in quite a while with a hyperlapse and was truly such a golden capture.
