After 8760 steps later...

It was a beautiful sunny and bright morning, just perfect for a quick walk in my town. I also wanted to try my new phones camera.

A kilometer away from our home is the Vegetable Trading Post. Here, farmers and traders converge to do their business from the early part of the day until the evening. Different produce from the farms of Benguet can be found here. From here, some of these are then transported and sold to the neighboring towns and the lowlands.

I took a walk here because I wanted to see and to share some of the paintings done by local artists to the walls that line the street going to the trading post. This is located behind the Municipal Hall and multipurpose gym.

As much as I wanted to picture all the paintings, I only chose a few to share it here.

I am not sure if these paintings were done during last year's strawberry festival. Almost all of these are heavily painted with strawberries in them. Even our municipal hall was decorated with strawberries. La Trinidad Strawberry Festival is held every March. Some of the decors have already faded. It is about time that those should be taken down.

Here are some blogs I wrote in another blog about La Trinidad Strawberry Festival last 2015. Maybe one day I can attend the festival and write a blog about it here in Steemit.

Aside from delivery trucks, vans and pickup trucks are also used to deliver highland vegetables and other produce. Some make a living by being a porter, some works as baggers, packers, sorters, etc. It is the busiest hour at this time.

This month is the lenten month also the graduation month for some schools. Even at this early hour, some peddlers are already set up with their garlands, bouquets and stuffed toys for sale. I also saw some students and parents taking photos, waiting for time when the graduation ceremony starts. The municipal gym is multipurpose and it is used for ceremonies such as this.

I still have a lot of time so I decided to keep walking which led me to the strawberry farm, a kilometer away from the trading post. Anything look familiar to you with this painting?

Portions of the wall that lines the street going to the farm were also painted.

Strawberry farm is one of the tourist spots here in La Trinidad. Here you can pick fresh strawberries if you want or just buy from the myriad of stores found here. Products made from strawberries such as wine and food flavored with strawberries can be bought here. I saw an ice cream vendor and it was very tempting to buy but I was able to control myself lol! Of course, there is strawberry flavored ice cream available. You can also find souvenirs and other items strawberry inspired. Some shops were already open. There were already tourists as well checking the shops and/or picking strawberries.

Not only strawberries are planted here but also some vegetables. A patch of garden was planted with sunflowers as well. This part of the valley gets flooded during the monsoon and typhoon seasons. Some farmers have set up elevated gardens for strawberries to grow.

You can also find here the BSU Orchidarium where you can check out different plants for sale.

Here are freshly picked strawberries for you. That bright red color is just wonderful.
