Unlike other bridges that span across the Pearl River, Haixin Bridge is Guangzhou’s first pedestrian bridge and the world’s largest and broadest curved beam arch pedestrian bridge. It not only facilitates the walkers on both sides but also becomes a new landmark of Guangzhou!

The capability of China as its so-called Infrastructure-holic is beyond doubt, to build any kind of bridge is just a piece of cake. So they made Haixin Bridge’s design incorporate elements of Lingnan culture, such as Cantonese opera water sleeves, water flower market, and guqin (a traditional string instrument). At night, Haixin Bridge lights up along its main body and arches, outlining two arcs of different lengths that twist and overlap on the river like two “water sleeves”, holding up the night view of Pearl River together.

The bridge is not high, but the river is wide. The lights on both sides are shining and sparkling with the misty haze in the distance. The Canton Tower (nicknamed “Xiaoman Yao” or “slim waist” by locals because it resembles a woman with a slender waist), Guangzhou’s tallest building, seems within reach. Tour boats glide slowly under the bridge, seagulls fly over your head from time to time, your clothes and hair flutter in the wind… People sit in pairs or groups on the bridge, enjoying Guangzhou’s nightlife - so romantic, reminds me of the City of Sleepless Seattle~
