The flowers elsewhere are bustling with crowds and seas of flowers, people shoulder to shoulder, all crowded together. However, the flowers in temples are completely different. They are serene and peaceful, as if imbued with spirituality. Even a few scattered flowers can paint a vibrant spring scene.
Buddhism and flowers have a special connection. When Buddha held up a flower, Kasyapa smiled and Zen was born... Therefore, most temples have different flowers, such as the magnolias of Linggu Temple, the peach blossoms of Qixia Temple, the lilacs of Fayuan Temple, and the plum blossoms of Lingyin Temple. They are meant to bring peace and comfort to people, and blend harmoniously with the ancient architecture of the temple, becoming the most beautiful scenery.
Life is but a fleeting moment, and spring only lasts for a season. Buddha teaches us to cherish the present, to cherish time, and to cherish our years. Every time I come to this ancient and prosperous temple, I gain many insights. Perhaps I have gained some wisdom? Namo Amitabha...
