I like the description of Dromoland Castle posted in 1795 in an issue of the Gentleman's Magazine:
The noble and beautiful seat of Sir Lucius O'Brien, Bart., in the county of Clare, situated on a hill gently rising from a lake of twenty four acres in the middle of woods. Three beautiful hills rise above it, commanding fine prospects of the great rivers Fergus and Shannon at their junction, being each of them a league wide.
I really liked this castle, built in the baronial and gothic style. It is one of the most famous baronial castles in Ireland. With gray walls and a tower and windows, with characteristic curves at the top. Now there is a luxury hotel in the castle and a golf course has been built next to it.
And nearby there is a secret garden called Walled Garden, which leads to such a charming alley. I was in Ireland in the fall, so the vine around the arbors had brown leaves, and some have already fallen.
I imagine that in the spring this entrance must look magical and already walking it towards the garden, you can feel as if you were going to an enchanted world.
There was a pond and ducks in the area. We fed them a little.
