Tupiza is know as the starting point of the Uyuni tour. One should take the time to explore and walk through the city. For us, it was the start of our relaxing time at the end of our Bolivian vacation, just after the end of our Uyuni Salar exploration.
We arrived in Tupiza in the middle of the night without a hotel destination and a city map. It was a challenge to find a hotel. We were lucky to have met a man in the bus that indicated us a good place. The room was all made from cactus, so cute.
We slept like babies as soon as our head touched the pillow. The day after, we ate a breakfast in the hotel garden before going explore the city.
We stopped by the market to try the mami soup before going to the canyon del Inca. It was delicious.
We thought that it was going to be a short hike. In fact, it was a 20 km walk surrounded by a lot of colored rock formations at an elevation of 2 950 m. We passed by the Puerta del Diablo and the Valle Macho.
We were lucky to see wild goats on our way back and we learn that the hike was quite dangerous to do by ourselves when talking to local afterwards. Most tourists takes a guide and go to the canyon by horse.
It sure would have been easier but the experience to walk alone in that atmosphere was very cool and unique.
