Primorsky Boulevard in Odessa is one of the most beautiful streets in the world. Guests arriving by sea, from the port, along the Potemkin Stairs, get to this famous boulevard.

Duke meets the guests. As governor-general, Duc de Ricillier did a lot of useful things for the whole of Odessa.

A small digression from the topic

On this hill, in the 6th century BC, ordinary Greek houses were located. After them, this peak of the Black Sea coast was decorated with the fortress of the Turks Yeni-Dunya. It is worth noting that it was here right up to the 18th century.

Feature of the boulevard

It should be noted that the houses here are located only on one side. On the other hand, we see a 500-meter cliff. Yes, now it is built up. Just from this side of the boulevard, opposite the buildings, we see the sprawling Istanbul Park.

From Pushkin to Duke

The boulevard itself begins with the building of the City Duma, a cannon and a monument to Pushkin. For the idea of constructing the Duma building, the Alexander Palace was taken, which was built in the suburbs of St. Petersburg.

Houses of Primorsky Boulevard

Yes, I started from the end. House No. 15 is under restoration. True, this is already a long story. In this regard, I start from house number 14. It was built in 1825 by the architect Boffo. Reconstruction took place in 1905. This is Magner's apartment building. It is notable for the fact that the wax museum is located here.

House number 13. The architect of the Mayurov house is Boffo. There was not only a tenement house, but also a banker's one.

House number 12. The first building was built in 1826. It was demolished and in 1833 a new building designed by Boffo was built. Here everyone is only interested in "Dvor 12". Various events are regularly held in the premises.

House number 11 Pavel Lopukhin. It was built in 1827 according to Boffo's design. The Londonskaya hotel is located here. At all times, various famous people lived in the house itself. There were: Isadora Duncan, Sarah Bernhardt, Georges Simenon, Anton Chekhov and so on.

House number 10. The house was built in 1825. This time Frapolli became the architect. In 2010, the house was supplemented by an attic.

House number 9. Boffo figured out this house in 1830. At the time of its birth, it was the palace of the landowner Shydlovsky. In those days, there was a skylight on the roof. This is a kind of turret. In fact, this is the Seaman's House. Apparently, this building will be rebuilt, while maintaining the facade of the building.

House number 8. This building will complete the first part of the excursion along Primorsky Boulevard. The construction of Rear Admiral Zavadsky's house was completed in 1830. This is one of two semicircular houses. In 1833, the building passed into the possession of Verel, who realized here the most classy hotel "Petersburg".

In front of the semicircular houses there is a monument to Duke de Ricillier. Next time we will go towards the Vorontsov Palace, the Mother-in-law Bridge and the Klononnade.
