The day I visited the Vatican was filled with emotion, not only because I had longed to go, but also because my job, as strange and unpredictable as ever, made a last-minute change, and I had to go with the people from our music institution before the scheduled visit I had planned with my wife and friends. I'm usually annoyed by these last-minute changes, but since they don't surprise me anymore 😅 this walk to the Holy Door became one of the most moving moments I experienced in Rome. I shared it with everyone; we sang, and it was a walk filled with prayer and photography that began practically from Castel Sant'Angelo, where you can enjoy a perfect view of St. Peter's Basilica in the distance.
El día que conocí el Vaticano fue un día de muchas emociones, y no solo porque anhelaba ir a este lugar, sino que mi trabajo, extraño y cambiante como siempre, hizo un cambio de última hora y tuve que ir con la gente de nuestra institución musical antes de la visita agendada que ya tenía con mi esposa y mis amigos. Generalmente me molestan estos cambios de última hora, pero como ya no me sorprenden 😅 esta caminata hacia la puerta santa se convirtió en uno de los momentos más apasionados que viví en Roma, porque lo compartí con todos, cantamos y fue un paseo en oración y fotografías que comenzó prácticamente desde el Castillo de Sant'Angelo, donde se aprecia una vista perfecta de la Basílica de San Pedro a lo lejos.
This street is Via della Conciliazione, and we had to walk it on a pilgrimage to the Holy Door, at least, that's what the event was called. I should have been praying from the beginning, but I couldn't; I saved that for inside St. Peter's Basilica. At this point, taking advantage of the slow pace, I could only take pictures and share my impressions with my wife and friends. Everyone was very happy, even though we were still tired from the previous day's sightseeing. Another thing I did was video call my mom so she could join me on the walk, even though it was two in the morning in Venezuela 🤣 but that wasn't a problem for her, even though I could barely hear her.
Esta calle es la Via Della Conciliazione, y nos tocó caminarla en una peregrinación hasta la puerta santa, al menos así se llamaba el evento. Debí haberme mantenido en oración desde el inicio, pero no pude, eso lo dejé para el interior de la Basílica de San Pedro, en este punto, y aprovechando la caminata lenta solo podía tomar fotografías y compartir impresiones con mi esposa y mis amigos, todos estaban muy felices, aunque seguíamos cansados del turismo del día anterior. Otra cosa que hice en este momento fue hacer una video llamada a mi mamá para que me acompañara en el camino, aunque en Venezuela eran las dos de la mañana 🤣 pero no fue impedimento para ella, aunque difícilmente podía oírla.
It was a long walk, but as I mentioned before, one of the best moments I've ever experienced. My visit to the Vatican was perfect, like being in a procession, but without the obligation of leading the faithful. In fact, I misbehaved, at least until I reached the Holy Door 🤣 The weather was cool, the sky was clear, and the emotion of the singing made me very happy. Arriving at St. Peter's Square for the first time evokes an indescribable emotion for everyone, but especially for us Catholics who always witness some celebration from there. It was a day of firsts, and this walk was just the beginning of one of the best days of my life ❤️
Fue un paseo largo, pero como he contado antes, uno de los mejores momentos que he vivido. Mi visita al Vaticano fue perfecta, como en una procesión, pero sin el compromiso de estar al frente de los creyentes, de hecho me porté mal, al menos hasta llegar a la puerta santa 🤣 El clima era fresco, el cielo estaba despejado y la emoción de los cantos me hicieron muy feliz. Llegar a la Plaza de San Pedro por primera vez causa una emoción indescriptible para todos, pero especialmente para nosotros los católicos que siempre vemos alguna celebración desde ahí. Fue un día de primeras veces, y esta caminata solo fue el inicio de uno de los mejores días de mi vida ❤️
