I'm back in Madrid!

Hello my dear Hive travel community! I should be happy only for Rome and all the wonders I experienced there. I visited many places that I plan to pin to Worldmap later, but today I need to talk about an unexpected day and my big surprise of 2025: I returned to Madrid, one of my favorite cities in the world. The experience was crazy, but dreamy, and now without the responsibilities of work, Madrid was truly enjoyable. It was even half a day without my wife, even more freedom, hahaha. And now I'll tell you why...

Debería estar feliz solamente de Roma y de todas las maravillas que viví allá, visité muchos lugares que pienso fijar en el Worldmappin más adelante, pero hoy necesito hablar de un día inesperado y mi gran sorpresa de 2025: Volví a Madrid, una de mis ciudades preferidas en el mundo. La experiencia fue muy loca, pero de ensueño, y ya sin las responsabilidades del trabajo, Madrid fue netamente para disfrutar, incluso fue media día sin mi esposa, más libertad aún jajajaja, y ahora les digo por qué...

Before it was just a dream, and now I've visited this city for two consecutive years ❤️ Many Venezuelans went to Rome for the canonization of our first saints in Vatican City, so the return was not easy for a musical institution as large as ours that brings children, caregivers, doctors, workers, managers, singers and others. So there were many flights from Rome to Madrid, and at least for us singers, the plan was to meet in this city and leave the next day on a single plane. I was lucky enough to leave on the first flight and spent almost 24 hours in Madrid, but my wife wasn't so lucky; when you see her in these photos, it was already past midnight, but we still made the most of our time. Our goal was to touch the butt of the Bear in Plaza del Sol, something we didn't do last year and which they say guarantees you'll return to Madrid...

Antes solo era un sueño, y ahora he visitado esta ciudad por dos años consecutivos ❤️ Muchos venezolanos fueron a Roma con motivo de la canonización de nuestros primeros santos en la Ciudad del Vaticano, así que el regreso no estaba nada fácil para una institución musical tan grande como la nuestra que lleva niños, gente que cuida a los niños, médicos, obreros, directivos, cantantes y demás, así que fueron muchos vuelos de Roma a Madrid, y al menos para nosotros los cantantes, el plan era encontrarnos en esta ciudad y salir al día siguiente en un solo avión. Tuve la dicha de salir en el primer vuelo y estuve casi 24 horas en Madrid, pero mi esposa no tuvo tanta suerte, cuando la vean en estas fotos ya estaba pasada la media noche, pero igual aprovechamos el tiempo. Nuestra meta era tocar el trasero del Oso de Plaza del Sol, algo que no hicimos el año pasado y que dicen que te asegura volver a Madrid...

I only knew my wife's flight time, but not the rest of my colleagues', so it was a surprise to be walking through the streets of Madrid and running into the choir members who had already arrived. We all had the same idea of ​​making the most of the night. The hotel where we stayed was close to the airport; the city center was practically an hour away, but that didn't stop any of us. I always stayed with my boss, the leader of the tenors, who during this trip was like my best friend. He and his wife had planned to visit the same places as us, especially the Bear and the Strawberry Tree in Plaza del Sol. Just in case our wives were tired, we took advantage of the opportunity to visit them first.

Yo solo sabía la hora del vuelo de mi esposa, pero no la del resto de mis compañeros, así que era una sorpresa ir caminando por las calles de Madrid e irnos encontrando los chicos de la coral que ya habían llegado. Todos tuvimos la misma idea de aprovechar la noche. El hotel donde nos alojamos era cerca del aeropuerto, el centro de la ciudad estaba prácticamente a una hora, pero no fue impedimento para ninguno de nosotros. Yo siempre estuve con mi jefe, el líder de los tenores, que durante este viaje fue como mi mejor amigo. El y su esposa tenían en mente visitar los mismos lugares que nosotros, especialmente al Oso y el Madroño en Plaza del Sol, solo que por si nuestras esposa llegaban cansadas, aprovechamos de hacer una primera visita.

Last year, when we had our concert tour in Spain, we were in Madrid at the beginning and end, long enough to fall in love, but today I can assure you that every time I've visited this city, I've had rain. It's never stopped me; in fact, I was able to break in my new jacket; I was eager to wear it in Rome every day, but it was so much work that often the best coat was my uniform. Madrid wasn't just a fun night; our friends and former migrant choir members were waiting for us there ❤️

El año pasado, cuando tuvimos nuestra gira de concierto por España, estuvimos en Madrid al inicio y al final de la misma, tiempo suficiente para enamorarme, pero hoy puedo asegurar que cada vez que he visitado esta ciudad me ha tocado lluvia. Nunca me ha detenido, de hecho pude estrenar mi nueva chaqueta, estuve pendiente de usarla en Roma todos los días, pero fue tanto trabajo que muchas veces el mejor abrigo era mi uniforme. Madrid no solo significó una noche de diversión, nuestros amigos y ex coralistas migrantes nos estaban esperando allá ❤️

It was past midnight and very hungry, when we were at the corner of McDonald's on Gran Vía, our friends and our wives arrived, the ones who had come on the last flight from Rome, so we ate hamburgers and continued with our walk, passing by Plaza del Sol again, and that bear captures the attention and love of everyone who visits this city... It's amazing how we didn't feel tired, because the whole week was very intense...

Pasada la media noche y con mucha hambre, cuando estábamos en la esquina del Mc Donald's de Gran Vía llegaron nuestros amigos y nuestras esposas, los que venían en el último vuelo desde Roma, así que comimos hamburguesas y seguimos con nuestro paseo, volviendo a pasar por Plaza del Sol, y es que ese oso se lleva la atención y el amor de todos los que visitan esta ciudad... Es impresionante como no nos sentíamos cansados, porque toda la semana fue muy intensa...

I discovered many wonderful things in Rome, things that everyone already knows, but that are new to me, and yet, Madrid stole my heart again; I definitely have preferences. For me, it's a great blessing to be in this beautiful city again and reunite with so many friends. I hope moments like this happen again, whether traveling on my own or, better yet, as a member of my choir. There's magic in having the privilege of traveling with friends and being able to sing in faraway lands. I've only been in the choir for eight years, and yet I'm one of the newest members. I also had difficult years financially, but fortunately, our institution projects our orchestras and this choir internationally. We really sound good, so we must continue working on improving ourselves personally and as a group to continue reaping so many blessings 🙏

Descubrí muchas cosas maravillosas en Roma, cosas que ya todos conocen, pero que son una novedad para mí, y aún así, Madrid se volvió a robar mi corazón, definitivamente tengo preferencias. Para mí es una gran bendición volver a coincidir con esta hermosa ciudad y volver a reencontrarme con tantos amigos. Espero que momentos como este se repitan, ya sea viajando por mi cuenta, o mejor, hacerlo como integrante de mi agrupación coral, y es que hay magia en tener el privilegio de viajar con amigos y poder cantar en tierras lejanas. Tengo solo ocho años en la coral y aún así soy de los más nuevos, además de que me tocaron los años difíciles económicamente hablando, pero felizmente nuestra institución proyecta internacionalmente a nuestras orquestas y a este coro, realmente sonamos bien, así que hay que seguir trabajando en superarnos en lo personal y superarnos como agrupación para seguir obteniendo tantas bendiciones 🙏
