Walk down to the Namkhan River and go for a swim with us on the last day of Songkran.
There wasn't one person to be seen. The police scared everyone away with their riot van yesterday, so it felt like the town was a simulation that forgot to load the NPCs.
I thought today would be another lonely day of exploring Luang Prabang without any human encounters.
No one will ever have an opportunity like this again. I doubt the streets have ever been empty for New Years before and hopefully are never like this again. It was a dream come true for taking pictures.
Wouldn't it be cool if these travel blogs were like the choose your own adventure books? Should we go down this sketchy looking alley?
I've been by this many times, but I never walked in because of the alley.
Here's the temple's sign if you want to visit yourself.
What's that sound I hear over there? People laughing and having fun?
These are they only people having fun. I'd better go down there and investigate.
They were climbing up and jumping off this bamboo bridge.
Of course I know the only people having fun and enjoy the hot day.
Little does he know that he's about to get picked up by his master and given his first swimming lesson.
Not everyone was afraid to go for a swim.
I've never seen Joe before, but when I saw him running straight towards me, I opened my arms and he jumped up a bit and embraced me. He was a great swimmer and was a good example for the rookie.
We had so much fun today. The videos came out great. I'll edit them and post tomorrow. I think we'll all remember the day we had the town and river to ourselves.
I've felt like this was the Garden of Eden since the first day here. See? I've found confirmation. Thanks for enjoying the final day of Songkran with us. Happy Lao New Year!
