Wednesday walk through Vranje, a town with a soul

Hello everyone, it's Wednesday and I am happy to walk with you again. 😊 This is my entry for the #wednesdaywalk challenge hosted by @tattoodjay. This Wednesday, I invite you to join me on a walk through a small but beautiful town in the south of Serbia, called Vranje.

I like it when I stay in cities that have a soul, that are warm even when it's cold, where people welcome you with a smile and hospitality. That's why I enjoyed Vranje because it is one of those cities where you feel very good and relaxed. Although the visit was very short, I managed to walk around a bit and take some photos for the Wednesday walk.

In the past, Vranje was under Turkish rule for a long period, so the Turkish influence on culture and language can be felt even today. It is a city with a long history and many cultural museums and monuments.

Some old houses also look like museums because they have preserved their authentic facades.

Vranje is a city with a lot of cafes because the locals are big fans of coffee and leisure. At noon everyone gathers and drinks "noon coffee" and after that, the cafes are empty as are the streets.

In the evening they gather again. While I was walking, in the meantime, it got dark and the city became more lively.

We headed towards the park, not knowing that the traditional manifestation was being held there.

Walking through the park was very exciting, especially for my children who met their favorite cartoon characters. 😊

In the park, many traditional items such as clay pots, folk costumes, and works of art were exhibited.

I especially liked the homemade products because I know they are very delicious.

A stage was set up in the park where folklore societies played folk dances from different parts of Serbia.

So, my walk ended with music. Vranje is a cheerful city, flowery and lively. I look forward to visiting there again.
