Today I have been watching a TV show about Montenegro and remembered my trip to Herceg Novi, my favorite coastal city in this country. I was in Herceg Novi several times and I always had a good time except once in my teenage days when I was with my friends and we didn't have enough money, so we were hungry. 🙂 But I would rather remember some other visits to this city when everything was fine. 🙂
When it comes to Montenegro, I prefer to go there for a walk than for a summer vacation because I am more a fan of their beautiful old cities than the beaches although I love the Adriatic sea very much. I like Herceg Novi because unlike other coastal cities, which live only in summer, Herceg Novi lives all year round. It is a city of music festivals and cultural events and one of the favorite tourist events is the Mimosa Festival which celebrates the arrival of spring. Very nice event and a very good reason to visit this town.
The symbol of Herceg Novi and the popular monument is the clock tower, known as the Sahat (Clock) Tower or Tora.
Herceg Novi is a city of impressive fortresses and towers.
Every part of the old town makes you feel very comfortable even when it is rainy. Then the town has a special charm.
I love the paved narrow streets and the spirit of the old days that is felt here.
One of the historical landmarks is the Savina Monastery, near the city of Herceg Novi in the Bay of Kotor. I love the sea view from this place.
Herceg Novi is a hilly town and it is great for your muscles and health. 🙂 You can lose weight while walking uphill and downhill every day. 🙂 But you can also enjoy the fantastic views.
This city is equally beautiful in the evening and during the day. I like evening walks the most and when I remember them I become nostalgic.
You can't come to this city just once. You always want to come back.
