Hello everyone. When I visited Ljubljana, I didn't want to miss the chance to visit Maribor as well, the second-largest city in Slovenia.
We didn't have much time to spend there, so it was a quick walk, but enough to motivate me to visit this city again, especially because of the beautiful natural environment in which Maribor is located. Walking through the streets of Maribor, I was again amazed by the architecture that reminded me of Austria.
Beautiful city squares make this city charming. You feel peace and harmony at every step because there is no unnecessary noise. The people are polite and kind, and I liked the culture very much.
The city is located in a mountainous environment and I would love to visit it next time during the ski season. I think it would be an amazing experience. There is greenery all around, so walks through the city are very pleasant. I especially liked Maribor Park. Maribor is not a noisy city. On the contrary, it is very quiet and then you can imagine how quiet it is in the park. Great place to relax after a hard day's work. This park is a famous meeting point in Maribor.
The Drava river flows through the city and along the coast there are many cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy drinking coffee and looking at the river.
I liked the Old Bridge over the Drava River very much. There is something special about old bridges. They evoke special emotions in me and remind me of the past. This bridge is a popular tourist attraction in the city.
My attention was also drawn to an old cinema that used to work here. It is called Kino Partizan as well as cinemas in some other cities of the former Yugoslavia. It was a popular name then. 🙂
Although the walk through this city was short, I felt very nice there as in all the cities of Slovenia I visited and I will come again for sure. Maribor is famous for its wine and I haven't tried the wine this time so that's another reason for my next visit. 🙂
In the end, I liked one detail of the town square which, if I remember correctly, is called Freedom Square. It is a sprayer of clean water that refreshes passers-by on hot summer days. Very good idea.
Many times I wished for something like that while walking through my city. 🙂
Thank you very much for reading.
The images and writing are original and mine.
Greetings!
Jelena
