Welcome
All things considered, I would say I been particularly lucky with the people I've met on my journey... thus far. However, there is one story that sticks out in my mind that I wish to share with you all today. It'd only been a few days since I've been in Hoi An Vietnam. I arrived with the work away program and was living at a local home. This home was located just off Cửa Đại Road.
At this point, I had not yet rented a motorbike nor had I started to drive one. However, my boss at the time said that the beach was very nice. Cửa Đại beach Was famous for a long time due to its awesome beach line until a storm took most of the beach away. However, it was still a nice place to go and swim.
Off to the beach I go
Getting excited for the beach one afternoon I set out for a walk, without quite realizing how far to walk it was. Here is a map of the route I ended up walking.

This was a solid 49 Minute walk of about 4 km. I remember Arriving at the beach and loving the water.
However, it was this point I realized I had to do the walk back as well. My legs were tired from a couple of days of nonstop walking, So is beginning to dread this walk back.
Meeting my new friend!
It was then along the road just after I started my adventure back. Dare I say I might've been limping, but a motorbike pulls up in front of me and says hi. This crazy guy in the name of Mr.Dustin Winn, a Vietnamese kid from Saigon up visiting his father in Danang but spending the day in Hoi An, tells me to jump on for a lift back.
At first ask him how much, as I thought he was trying to get money for me. But he just laughs and says get on. He gives me a ride back to my home, And we exchange contact information.
That evening we go out to some of the local bars and restaurants and even though I offered to pay, he insists on paying for everything and buys me dinner and drinks. We talk a lot and laugh a lot. lol.
At the end of the night I say goodbye to him he was on his way back to Danang.
End of a great day
Mr. Dustin Winn, He was my first Vietnamese friend that I made, And surely would not be my last. I think of his kindness when I am walking, or when I see someone else walking. Just the openness and happiness he had was refreshing and help me fall in love with Vietnam.
This is my story of a random act of kindness from a stranger. :)
