Morning Walk Over Long Biên Bridge - Hanoi
Still recovering from jet lag, I found it hard to sleep in. 4:30 am came and it was a moment of, "well I am up, let us go see what Hanoi before Sunrise has to offer". I am so very glad I said that.
If you have never been to Hanoi, its a city with deep roots in the past and new roots in the future. Crowds of people, bikes, and more invade your senses. This is unless it is 4:30 am in the old town.
At this hour, the streets are quiet, and you can walk down the sidewalk without stepping around motorbikes. (*if you have been here you know what I mean).
My walk took me out of Oldtown and on to the Long Biên Bridge.
Here is a bit from Wikipedia about it :
Long Biên Bridge is a historic cantilever bridge across the Red River that connects two districts, Hoan Kiem and Long Bien of the city of Hanoi, Vietnam. It was originally called Paul Doumer Bridge.
This bridge featured many wondrous and a few sketch things to keep it exciting.
The Sketchy first. Well, the footpath was made from cement blocks that are about 1/2 inch thick, I think made when the bridge first opened too. Lol, you can see between them and see the 50' drop.
The amazing is the red rive and the life of people passing over it. From young to old, walking, riding, running, limping and swimming under it.
Below are photos from this walk with commentary when needed.
