Exploring Vietnam: HOI AN a walkabout of the city in the morning

DSC01461.jpg

With a mix of old ancient buildings in the midst of a resurgence of funding due to a boom of tourism, Homes that once went for $10 a square foot goes for over $10,000 a square foot, and people were once poor now are wealthy. it's a fantastic city with a rich culture and history I have begun to explore.

For the next three weeks, I'll be calling Hoi An home. during this time I hope to explore the many facets of the city, from the standpoint of a tourist, and with luck meet locals who can show me the more hidden side of the city.

For some background here's a quote from Wikipedia

Hội An, formerly known as Fai-Fo or Faifoo, is a city with a population of approximately 120,000 in Central Vietnam's Quảng Nam Province and noted since 1999 as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Quoted from Wiki Here

Today's Morning Photo Walk

For my daily photo walk today I headed into the old town of Hoi An. The city was a mix of charm and interesting sites, a welcome change from Hanoi in the north.

While I was still technically in the touristy area, there were moments when it felt like perhaps it may be authentic.

I did end up wandering through the morning market as well, here many vendors sold fresh produce and fish. I wonder what this place will look like in the afternoon.

I also don't necessarily want to imply anything, but the streets of old town Hanoi did not have many if any animals on it like dogs or cats.... here there were ample dogs and cats and chickens.

I also walked over some of the local bridges connected to the city along the river filled with once fishing now tourist boats. Mental note to learn the name of these boats here.

Summary:

I am looking forward to doing more exploration of the city I hope I can achieve the goals of connecting with unique people!

On a personal note, I figure I might need $100 a week live and keep this journey going. If you'd like to sponsor me in exchange for access to all the photos from that week, let me know. :) Thank you and have a great day!
