Since WWIII memes and news are everywhere, I remember there's this one post I haven't written about yet...and this was about WWII.
Last month, I shared some pics at Jack's Ridge and that that place was a former headquarter of the Japanese Imperial Army during World War II.
A bit of Philippine history (if I remember it correctly :p), Spaniards came and colonized us for 300 years then at 1898 Americans arrived and shooed away the Spaniards. So Americans colonized us but then America got some arguments with Japan and World War II happened. Since we were an American colony, Japanese attacked us as well T_T BRO WE INNOCENT but we got nothing else to do but fight them as well.
So, we, the sandwiched ones, became the battlefield that's why we got land mines here and some shit. Soooo, those Japanese people arrived in Davao as well and they built some tunnels and stuff here.
One of the headquarters was this place.
Before going into the forest, you'll notice there's some plane right there with some Japanese flag in it. That's riiiigghhht. A Japanese plane wooh.
So yah, since there's some America vs. Japan going on, the Japanese retreated to this place cos it's a vantage point. Allowing them to see the American Navy docking there and stuff.
You know what else is in here?
A tunnel. :o
They built a lot of tunnels here and in the other parts of the country as well. Rumors say there's a hidden treasure somewhere there. :p
There are land mines, bombs, and bullet shells still found today.
Here's a pic of me with it for comparison. I would fit in there for sure but I didn't dare come inside. Well, it looks uninviting. Who knows there might be a big ass snake waiting for me there. Or a big spider. Or some mosquitos. Or a random earthquake and I die. :p
What about the treasure? I'm not interested in it. I already found mine. OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
If you look closer, you would notice the corals and stuff there. Which suggests that this place was once underwater. Damn :o
The clouds looked amazing.
That's all info I can provide since I'm not good at history. (Almost failed my history class so don't trust me with that LOL). There's another Japanese Tunnel tourist spot nearby (and that you could actually walk inside) and I'm gonna go there someday.
For now, let's all stay safe and hope no World War III happens. Wars suck. They just kill people and destroy stuff. Hoping for a chill 2020.
