WednesdayWalk Along the Canal to Khao San Road - Part 2 !!
July 2019 · 4 min read
Today i decided to Continue my walks along the Bangkok canal towards Khao San Road as you saw in my last blog walking along this canal is like walking along the river of Venezia in Italy lots of hotels , hostiles , restaurants and beautiful greenery along the way.
This part of the Bangkok canal is not used by them fast commuting taxi boats but only by tourist boats which cruise slowly along this part of canal for people who like to do a but of sightseeing of Temples and the old town of Bangkok.
Myself i preferred to walk along the canal as this is the real way of seeing the everyday culture of Thai people going about there lives and you can stop anytime to snap that photo.
These were classics just ideal if you wanted to make a emergency call...haha...more like a museum collection now but it added to the atmosphere of the area.
You will find all along the canal many different standards of restaurants weather it would be street foods or hotel , hostels serving up breakfast or lunch they are all of quality Thai , American or European foods and reasonable prices.
MAM's House was more the middle class place you would stay a great selection of foods and nice tidy rooms at a reasonable price.
As your walking along the canal you also have many streets that branch of from the canal that if you take one of the streets or alley you will come to another long street that runs parallel with the canal were as if you don't want to stay directly on the canal you can stay on this one street back from the canal which also has many hotels , hostels and restaurants or street foods if you prefer.
The Orchid House blow me out this place was just gorgeous a beautiful looking house that i wouldn't mind spending a couple nights in.
This looked like another average hostel just back of the canal almost near Khao San Road.
This made me laugh....lol :)
A strange tree i saw with some sort of fruit growing of the trunk not sure if it was a eatable fruit never seen a tree like this before.
This was funny to see but not uncommon to see in Thailand you will get a lot of old Thai generation people that won't sell their land with a old traditional Thai house on the land so people have build around it.
At this point i have walking for about 4 hours along this canal and i was very close to the end point of this particular branch of the canal from the main Bangkok canal which was leading me to the popular well known area Khao San Road known by a lots of backpackers around the globe.
And here i am at the end point of this canal where i found a whole group of very old Thai style hostels places that makes you feel like you are not even in Bangkok city but on a jungle river.
Even the cats feel right at home here amongst all this natural environment.
Right across from these group of old Thai house hostels is a lovely park and the Chaophraya River where you can take taxi boats anywhere up and down the river and walking distance to Khao San Road and you can even see the Rama 9 Bridge a very convenient location.
Even though the location of this Flapping Duck hostel is in a superb spot with a great atmosphere surrounding it it's not me for me they cost you $6 US a night sharing rooms of course. This is the rear of the Flapping Duck Hostel.
So this completes Part 2 of Walking Along the Canal to Khao San Road next week i will bring you more on the Adventurous Bangkok Canal. Thanks for walking along with me.
Thank you @tattoodjay for #wednesdaywalk challenge it's certainly giving me more of a boost to get out there and see the beautiful things around us.
