MarketFriday - Railroad Bonsai Market in Bangkok !!
May 2019 · 4 min read
Hi everyone here we are back for another #marketfriday initiated by the lovely @dswigle and it's Friday again and today i decided to go and visit the famous Chatuchuk Bonsai Market in Bangkok City.
Bonsai's are very much of Thailand's culture as in Japan you will see almost every Thai house has one or more Bonsai tree in there front yard they believe it will bring them good luck and fortune.
I myself am a lover of Bonsai trees and i have meaning to go to this Bonsai market for some time now ,let me tell you this market you can not cover in one day it runs for blocks down both sides of the road endless nursery shops and not only do they sell Bonsai trees.
There are several plant and flower markets around Bangkok but this one is one of the largest called Railroad Market which is on Kampaengphet Road and runs along the same road as Chatuchuk Market and here you will also find a huge range cactuses , flowers and also dry flowers.
A lot of the Bonsai trees here have attended Bonsai shows and are prize winners you could pay from $500 us to $2000 US for some of these Bonsai Trees.
They say it takes years of dedication, patience and horticultural skill to challenge nature and recreate trees in their most minute forms it is known as "The Living Art in Miniature". It is ideal to use copper wire as easy to twist around and doesn't rust which will kill the Bonsai Tree.
Now if the Bonsai Trees were not breathtaking and mind blowing enough seeing all these cactus succulent plants in bloom was really fascinating and colorful to see so many in one place.
And to be honest with you it's not very common to see so many cactus plants flowering at the same time this was like paradise for me to see all this never had i seen so many cactus plants in one place it was just to much all i was saying was wow...wow...wow ..and...wow...again..omg...did i say...wow...again.
The good thing about cactuses they can adapt to dry environments so much easier to care for and not as expensive as Bonsai Trees and are quite pretty plants in color when they flower.
I couldn't get over how many shapes and sizes of cactuses they are in this world they say there is about 1750 known species and i think they are all here...lol :)
And i was saying if you like dry flowers which are maintenance free just require a bit of dusting now and then they will make them to your order of any flower , color or style very remarkable work and almost look real.
The live flowers that are available at these markets is extraordinary just so many species many i have never seen before but i will leave that for Part 2 of this market post there are just to many to show in this one post.
And i would like to end this post with the most elegant flower i do think in this world and my favorites and that is of course the stunning , superb Orchids that represent so many good things and have so many awesome meaning that we couldn't live without them the planet would be a boring place without them...yeah :)
The Chatuchak Weekend Market, on Kamphaeng Phet 2 Road, Chatuchak, Bangkok, is the largest market in Thailand. Also known as JJ Market, it has more than 15,000 stalls and 11,505 vendors, divided into 27 sections.
Thank you @dswigle for giving us the opportunity to show of our countries markets on @marketfriday it is certainly a very knowledgeable subject to see what our neighboring countries can bring to us.
