Big Basin Redwoods State Park is a state park in the U.S. state of California it's located in Santa Cruz County about 36 km northwest of Santa Cruz and we were about a 2 hour drive from this state park.

On arrival and walking around Big Basin itself was really refreshing and it's really a nice spot to hike around with younger children plenty of small trails and minimal elevation gain but provided a feeling of being much further away from civilization than you really are and really is a great hiking park if you were there for that but we had not planned on doing that just a day out with the friends and kids of course we were all been kids on that day it's something to do with the fresh air.

Some of these old wonderful trees measure more than 92 meter (300 feet ) tall and 16 meters (50 feet) in circumference. Scientists estimate that these trees may range from 1,000 to 2,500 years old just incredible that they are still standing at that age.

Some of these redwood trees in California i believe you can actually drive through them. The best time to visit the Big Basin Redwood National Park is in summer preferably in June or July.
