It is October and that means that olive season is almost here and for the first time I visited an olive press in Spain. It was a small village in the Alpujarras named Yator. There, next to the church, was a little olive oil press factory. They didn't produce there olives them self's but they press the olives that the local farmers have grown.
When you get inside the factory take a good look where you step because here, in the floor is a big hole were the farmers dump there harvest. From there it goes trough the first washing plant,to get ride of all the twigs and leaves. And than up the convertible in to the factory where the press is.
This is the second was and the crush machine. Here they make an olive pulp/past that is fed to the press.
I thought this set up was the press and the decanter. Here they separate the oil and the left over olive past. They were telling us what they were doing but I was to focused on taking pictures so listening didn't go that well 😅
Here you can see the olive oil, it doesn't look that clean in here.
And I tough this was some kind of separator. I think this thing spins hard to get rid of the water in the product.
And in the end of the line there is the farmer catching his product.
Look at that coloring. So beautiful and it was tasteful to.
This olive press factory has got two payment methods. You can pay a fee to use the press ore you give part of the oil to the owners of the factory. There they have a little shop and selling the olive oils to local restaurants. And of course we bought a couple of bottles. look at this green gold. I love it.
