This starfish-shaped building looks like a tourist trap at a first glance. Such an impression is enhanced once you enter it as the first thing you see is a fancy restaurant followed by a gift shop. No worries, though. The keen treasures are hidden below the ground, and below the sea level so that the aquarium can use fresh (yet filtered and cleaned) sea water directly.

Just in a nutshell: Malta National Aquarium was opened in 2013 and hosts almost 200 hundred species. Besides of fish, mollusca, reptiles and insects. However, people usually go to aquariums to see colourful and dangerous fish, right? Here they are. I am not really an expert at naming fish and I had just a glance there being busy with less interesting errands, so feel free to label any fish you’d recognize.

Budova akvária připomíná mořskou hvězdici a na první pohled to může vypadat, že jde o past na turisty. Tenhle dojem jen posílí, když vejdete dovnitř. Napřed uvidíte lepší restauraci a hned za ní obchod se suvenýry. Ale nebojte, to nejvzácnější se ukrývá pod zemí. A zároveň pod úrovní moře, takže akvárium může využívat čerstvou (byť přefiltrovanou a pročištěnou) mořskou vodu.

Jen v kostce: Akvárium bylo otevřeno v roce 2013 a najdete v něm na 200 živočišných druhů. Krom ryb a paryb třeba měkkýše, plazy nebo hmyz. Hlavní důvod pro návštěvu akvária jsou samozřejmě barevné a nebezpečné ryby, že?
Tak tady jsou. Podle vzhledu je nepoznám a na akvárium jsem neměl moc času, takže je klidně pojmenujte, pokud tušíte, která je která.
