As the old saying goes "Everything bad is good for something else" my unnecessary trip to Uvita made me discover Dominical!

Dominical is a tiny place. In fact so tiny I have always overlooked it when searching the map and planning my trip. I was hence very surprised when driving through what looked like a scene from the movie Beach.

So after a "bad trip" in Uvita it was time to give it a try. Hostel Piramys welcomed me with all its charm. It is by no means place for everybody, but if you just need a roof over your head, toilet, locker and a gas cooker this place might be exactly for you! I didn't mention shower in this list as swimming in the ocean might be better experience.

Its Italian host showed me around and shared valuable information with bunch of jokes. We end up having nice conversation together which sadly doesn't belong to the internet, but let me assure you - Dominical is a magnet for hippies and outcasts of all sorts. It is NOT your average holiday resort! And that is why I loved it so much.

Second week in Costa Rica made me resorting to the cheapest of foods - peanut butter and bananas. Some people were arguing with me that peanut butter is expensive here, but when compared with other things like bread for instance it is by far the cheapest nutrition. I still haven't finished it three days later and it costs like two packs of toast bread...

As I wanted to surf and socialize a little while here I wasn't running around with my camera all the time. This blog is hence combination of photos from my three day stay there.

Usually in the morning I would go for a walk to the beach and its secret corner accessible only with wet feet.

On the way back I have discovered what looked like a failed holiday resort of some sort. Pretty interesting site if you ask me. It is by no means Mayan ruins but somehow it has its magic. It is surely a pity that their efforts end up wasted, but on the other hand visitors can now experience some sort of a beach urbex...

At this time I have run out of battery of my camera and had to pop up back in the hostel to recharge. Every time I wanted to do something productive or just stopped by over there, somebody got into conversation with me and my plan was delayed or changed. Which is great because it throws you into the present and time seems to flow on its own terms...

The next day I went surfing to the beach nearby and I couldn't take any valuables with me so that jewel will stay in my head until I come back and will be able to document it better. I will definitely come back as it was so far my best chance to catch a good wave. As I am not a beginner but also not a good surfer yet I need to be very picky where I go and rent the board so it doesn't end up waste of money.

So for the feeling I will share some pictures from the main beach in Dominical which is actually super hard to surf and locals and professionals are the only people in water.

I have however tried to surf this beach on my last day as well as I have made a deal with one American guy to use his board free of charge. I just copied some music from his hard disc to his phone. He was happy and I saved fifteen dollars on renting another board for two hours.

As I have said this place is for experienced riders and I have lasted only about twenty minutes as the waves comes in quick sets and I was really battling my way through all the time. So I took few white horses (understand the foamy wave after the main wave falls) and exhausted but very happy went to pack my bag as another adventures were awaiting me.

All the best,
