Around four hours east of Whittier, you can find Surprise Cove. We didn't really get to explore much since we've had rain for the past three days, which meant we stayed in this bay. Motoring in this weather is just boring—you won't see anything, and why leave a beautifully protected bay? It was already a struggle to get there with 40 knots against us.
Either way, today it cleared up a bit, but not enough to fully charge our batteries, so we've been running the engine to top them up again. In fact, it's the first time we've had to do that. But anyway, Surprise Cove offers walks, bears, and salmon—we're pretty spoiled out here, although a sauna would be nice as well.
We really need to get going as well. The weather in the next week will keep us trapped in Prince William Sound. We're starting to really look for weather windows now since they seem to be very rare, and we have someone we need to drop off in Juneau in Southeast Alaska, so we need to make some miles.
