Prince William Sound has around 150 glaciers, and we just had the chance to visit one of them. The Nellie Juan Glacier is immense, and it might be hard to grasp its true size unless I give you a clue.
We had not expected this glacier to calve so much. I was prepared with the drone once we started hearing the cracking of the ice and saw the piece as big as a bus start slowly falling, but we weren't ready for the mini-tsunami that nearly destroyed our dinghy, which is our only way back unless you want to walk for 48 hours. Many times, I complained that our dinghy was too heavy with its aluminium bottom, but since this little incident, I've kept my mouth shut.
Either way, we are still here and didn't have to walk back, but it's something we will prepare for next time. The whole area next to the glacier has lots of seals, but they are very shy, so no photos.
Thank you for reading. I hope you enjoyed all those photos.
