Hello Travel Friends,
Today I'm taking you to Chinatown on Kagoshima Island!
We were very sceptical about coming into China Port since it was very shallow at the entrance and we had a very sporty passage. We had a pretty good sea state, maybe 1m-1.5m, and we had the option of doing a night shift or just keeping on going until the next island.
But after a squall hit us, we decided we better hide since we really did not want to get hit by lightning. So, we went into the harbour with 100 metres visibility. Yes, the fog swallowed us in no time. Without the radar, we would not have sailed into the harbour; it was that bad. We had 6 metres on each side to either go on the rocks or go against the harbour wall. We only went in because we were in Japan. The charts are accurate; we would never have done this in the Pacific islands.
I took a photo of this factory. I'm not exactly sure what type of factory it is, so leave a comment if you know.
You know you are in Japan when you see a little wind turbine next to the road. This one was spinning in very light winds as well. Very innovative and something only Japan would have.
It seems Japan has got the hang of using cement. Even the smallest island will have a good spot to tie up. If you see the pyramid structures that block the swell from damaging the harbour wall, there are even new ones just 100 metres in front of our boat.
I really appreciate the support I'm getting on my posts. My hard work is actually paying off. If you want to see similar content, feel free to check out my profile.
