I don't have a wooden leg, a patch over one eye and not even the slightest hint of a parrot sitting on my shoulder. I don't have a ship, a crew and I've never "shivered me timbers" or even know what that means...Something about the ship rocking or shaking possibly from canon fire or the sea itself I guess. Who knows? Not me. So, quite obviously, I don't have any of the traditional requirements that make a pirate from ye olde times...Or do I? I have tried rum [didn't like it] and I used to have a budgie although it didn't sit on my shoulder, well, not once it shit on me that one time back in 1986.
Recently though I've been referring to my small stack of silver, collected over the last few years, as my pirate treasure and making jokes about spreading it out on the floor and rolling in it with glee. I'll leave it up to you to decide if the rolling-in-it jokes are indeed jokes or cold hard facts...The point is I have pirate treasure and as we all know that makes me a pirate!
I can't recall who made the comment now however someone suggested I get a pirate treasure chest to house my hoard and I thought that was a most excellent idea! If I was indeed a pirate that particular steemit user would be rapidly elevated to the position of First Mate on my pirate ship, well not first mate, maybe second.
So, the search is on for a suitable treasure chest and of course somewhere to bury the chest once filled with my treasure. I've been sailing the seven seas looking for a suitably remote and secure place to secret my treasure away from prying eyes and sticky covetous fingers. You can see me here casing out a spot after a lengthy voyage (on an A380) in the United Kingdom. See those caves in the background over my shoulder I had thought they would be a likely spot however as it turns out this is actually Tintagel on the Atlantic Coast of Cornwall, and a place that attracts many thousands of tourists each year. Not ideal at all. This is the site of a ruined Norman castle dated to around 1,000 years ago and the lovely little town of Tintagel itself. Obviously not at all suitable for my treasure and so the search continues...Or at least it will when I get some more annual leave from my day job and can afford another vacation.
Here's a picture of my pirate-wench...Come on, every good pirate needs one...Please don't tell her I said that, she'd kill me! Let's call her my First Mate maybe huh? She has been helping look for a suitable place to hide my treasure and because she's better at art than I am she's going to draw the map. My wife, I mean First Mate was of great help in the search and has already decided we need to go searching again soon and so another voyage is in the early stages of planning. We would like to head back to the United Kingdom however will need to go back to Finland also as one of my crew-mates is there. I call her chubby-cheeks but you may know her as my niece @smallsteps. She's one of my other treasures!
