Today we are taking this trip together to discover Bigar Waterfall. 💧
Ready, set, go!
The Bigar Waterfall is located in the Anina Mountains which are situated in the western part of Romania, in Caras-Severin County. For those who were reading my older travel posts, Anina Mountains are also known as one of the richest mountains from Romania, having a lot of tresures to be discovered,
Şuşara Waterfall, Beuşniţa Waterfall, To The Hooks - Nera Gorges, Bei Eye Lake , Vaioaga Waterfall, being just a few of them. 🗺️
At the beginning of this post I mentioned the fact that Bigar Waterfall is one of the most beautiful waterfalls - well, this masterpiece earned not one, but three memorable places in different tops:
- 🥇No. 1 in Top - The Most Interesting Waterfalls from Romania
- 🥈No. 6 in Top 10 - The Most Beautiful Waterfalls from Europe (you can see the rest of them, HERE)
- 🥉No. 1 in Top 8 - Unique Waterfalls Around the World. (you can also see the rest of t hem, HERE).
The waterfall is located right next to the main road, and if there is a big car queue on the road, you have many chances to even miss this beauty. When I visited this place, it was pretty hard to reach the waterfall as the surface was very steep and slippery, but meanwhile locators created different stairs and bridges for the tourists and also some indicators to make you pay attention to the waterfall.
As every mystic place have a legend, Bigar Waterfall also have its own. This time is a story about the love between two teenagers and the girl's parents which were against their relationship so they decided to lock down their daughter. Desperately wanting to be with a boy who's name was Bigar she was transformed into waterfall and the water which flows were the boy's tears. This was the only option for them to be happy together. There are also rumors that after rain if a rainbow's colors drop on the waterfall, there will be created an illusion with a picture of the couple. Pretty touching.. 💔🌈
If you take a trip to this waterfall, be sure to also cross the bridge and enjoy the surroundings, there are some more beautiful places you can visit around.
The picture was taken by my sister Mihaela Valceanu, and you can see it RIGHT HERE.
