Through the many places me and my family got to explore around our home country (Romania), there are very few locations which we visited just like that, without any goal set and doing any effort exploring them, because we usually love being rewarded with spectacular views and landscapes just after we consume our energy hiking and feeling the adrenaline in our veins.
But the day when we got to explore Întregalde Gorges was different just because we were already visiting some other locations on that day and since we were pretty tired, we thought that we could find a place that doesn't require any more effort from us, but it's just going to bless our day and make it end beautifully, in a peaceful place where we can reconnect with nature.
It was the moment when everything we could do is to just sit in the car and look out the window while our view range was becoming more and more dominated by nature, stone rocks, and a tiny road which leads to nowhere.
A place that wasn't requiring any efforts from us, and more likely the reward we received without offering anything in return. I guess the single way we can thank nature is to not ruin the greenery landscape with garbage, toxic people, or the loud noise which is going to destroy the playlist created by the moving leaves, water flowing through the stones and birds sing.

And it was exactly what we needed after a long day spent in different locations exploring less accessible paths.
We were actually looking for a place where we can turn off the engine of the car and simply sit on the green grass while eating something and listening to nature.

Of course, the gorges have their own peaks, caves, and hidden paths to the woods or chalets which can be barely noticed through the density of the forest, but they also let themselves being literally explored with the car while driving slowly on the tiny road, or by foot, because their length is pretty short, but quite enough to get in the mood of an explorer.
Întregalde Gorges are located on the western side of Transylvania, Alba county, just 33 km away from our previous discovery exploring Ramet Gorges.
There was also an opportunity of connecting the discovery of both of the gorges by walking 6 hours on a path that I presented in the other post.
However, we decided we should make the connection between the two by driving the car because it was after a longer break in our travels and we haven't felt too ready doing it that way, but Întregalde Gorges is definitely worth a visit too.
While we are used with gorges that were formed during the Jurassic ages or different centuries we heard about only in books, Întregalde Gorges are a pretty new project which was arranged in 2000 and so not too many people heard about them, maybe just those which are living nearby.

Though that doesn't make them less interesting, but actually more comfortable for a visit because we all know how is like to hit the road with the thought of leaving behind crowded places but then we have the unpleasant surprise to run into a bunch of other people gathered in the same place, so this location came right in time for us.

The 800 meters long gorges come up with two impressive mountain peaks: Plaiul Peak measuring 1,174 m and Pleşa Caprei Peak measuring 1,139 m, which are part of a former plateau that used to represent other gorges but which was split up by the flow of the water that made the occurrence of the Întregalde Gorges be possible.

There are also available activities for the more adventurous spirits, such as the possibility of camping right on the sides of the gorges where you can go down to the river, as well as climbing tracks which have been arranged since 2004 for the alpinism lovers.

Howherever, since the gorges are a pretty new project, there is only one way of access coming from the national road DN1 from Alba Iulia to Aiud and then Galda de Jos where you switch it on the county road DJ 107K crossing the village Modolești, întregalde.
Another way of access is by foot crossing Ramet Gorges - Cheia – Modoleşti – Cabana Întregalde (Intregalde Chalet), which of course on the map will seem closer because you cut the path via the mountains instead of following the road, but which will take 6 hours until you reach the destination.
