Since our plans for a trip to Ekaterinburg have become uncertain, we will have to stay in Moscow for another couple of days. We decided to arrange a cultural holiday and went to watch the exhibition of the famous street art artist Banksy.

For those who do not know him, Banksy is an English underground artist whose street work is directed against politics, war and capitalism. Banksy's art is modern mythology, enveloped in many secrets, intrigues, provocations and scandals. A lot of photos are taken, so I'll post only the best, in my humble opinion, works. Although for those who want I can leave the rest in a separate post.

Pounds with Lady Di

image.png

In 2004, Banksy produced a batch of 10-pound bills where the portrait of Queen Elizabeth II was replaced by a portrait of the dead Lady Di, and the inscription "Bank of England" was corrected for "Banksy of England". It's hard to say if the joke was successful: several banknotes were distributed at the Notting Hill Carnival festival, bills began to disperse, and almost no one noticed the difference until the artist himself realized that he had involuntarily become a counterfeiter:

"I printed a million pounds, I just wanted to throw them off the roof, but I gave out a few at the festival, and they went and spent it. Well, you know: "I have two beers" - they were given beer. Nobody noticed! And when this happened, we realized: we faked a million! And for this you can die for ten years. And now they lie with me and I do not know what to do with them, "he tells his friend in the documentary" Exit through the souvenir shop. "

"We are often persuaded that migration is damage to the host country, but Steve Jobs was the son of Syrian migrants. Apple is the company with the largest revenue in the world, annually it pays seven billion dollars in taxes. And all this is due to the fact that the country took a young Syrian from Homs, "- said in a statement Banksy.

"This graffiti appeared on the wall of a London store in the Wood Green area in May 2012. It was painted a barefoot boy who sews a British flag on a sewing machine, and it is assumed that this graffiti was the artist's reaction to the celebration of the birthday of Elizabeth II."
