Back when I was in Ormoc, Leyte for a job, there was this array of local restaurants in an area by the sea they called Ormoc City Food Park orThe Parola. It was only at the latter part that I realized why the place was called such; it was because there was a parola or a lighthouse in that area. It was just beside the food park.
Now these restaurants are not the fancy type but they were however a favorite of the locals and the tourists. The place was always teeming with hearty eaters, may that be day or night.
One of the reasons why the place is famous is because they serve fresh seafood, cooked upon your request. You can ask for a fish stew, cooked fresh clams or a grilled stuffed squid. They also have pork and chicken barbecue.
lato or seaweed salad
In here, lato is always served fresh and is one of the favorite dishes being ordered.
the view
This is also another reason why people keep coming back to the parola. Imagine eating your fresh seafood with this beauty and calmness in front of you.
the musicians
These musicians however is the highlight (for me at least) of eating here. They would go from table to table and would offer songs and music to the guests. Sure they don't have the fancy clothes or instruments but they played their songs from the heart...the kind of music that seems to bring you back in time.
