Muhuri Irrigation Project
First of all I would like to introduce you the Muhuri Irrigation Project in brief so that you can be familiar with the project first. Mirsarai is Upazila (Sub-district) under Chittagong Division. It’s the entrance of Chittagong City which have important sea port of Bangladesh. This Upazila is near the sea. Some rivers are connected with the sea thus it’s difficult to protect the sea water coming to the farming areas. And its low laying area as well. So, couple of eras back government initiated a project including Dam, Air based power generation etc.
After that the area became farm able. A huge land area has been converted from unused to used area. So, with this great initiative this project got huge popularity among the country. A lot of people started to coming here to see the project. The project and area become popular throughout the country. Traveler’s also started to travel here. Finally, due to the surrounding charming looking river, land area it become a tourist place. Its beauty increases when there is less water in the Dam thus land area gets in visibility and cattle dazzling here and there. Surrounding area is charming natural beautiful place as well. It is very popular natural beautiful place in Bangladesh. The place is very famous in Chittagong. A lot of tourist gathers here different areas of Bangladesh at the weekend and holidays.
Location:
It is situated at Usmanpur, Zorargonj, Mirsarai, Chittagong, Bangladesh, South Asia. Beside the Bay of Bengal.
Available ways to Travel:
Its location is at Zorargonj, Mirsarai, Chittagong, Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a South Asian Country. Dhaka is the capital of Bangladesh. Chittagong is second largest city in Bangladesh and 200 km far away from capital Dhaka. This Lake is about 70 km away from Chittagong. So, it’s easy to travel from Chittagong. Chittagong has an International Airport. From abroad you can land in **Chittagong **(Present name is Chattogram) through direct flight or can land to Dhaka then Dhaka to Chittagong by Bus or Train or Local Flight. You will find easy vehicle like Auto rickshaw for coming to the exact place after bus journey.
Hotel, Food and Guide Facilities:
This place is popular among middle class people in Bangladesh. You will not find good and quality hotel and guide here at the place. In this case you need to stay at Hotels in Chittagong. You need to move from there and go back to there on the same day. Being a remote village there is lack of residential facility I mean hotels and Good quality restaurants have not been established here yet. Local traditional foods are available here.Local dishes are available at wide range of services and cost. You can have taste of those foods which is so much appealing and loving to people here in Bangladesh.
If you find for guide, you can contact with tourist services in Dhaka and Chittagong. Lots of tours and travels are available there. They provide guide and other facilities at your convenience. But after reaching to the place through help of internet and local asking, you can manage a guide from restaurants and hotels here at cheapest and perfect one.
About the Place:
Those who are fond of travelling to Nature can find this place awesome. Normally we like Sea, Hills, River, Mountain, Dessert, Lake, etc while searching for nature. Here will find river, sea, land area all together. After completing the project by Bangladesh Government its beauty has been increased. Now it’s very awesome natural place to travel by tourist. Travelling is very enjoyable. I like to travel. If you like so, don't miss this charming natural beautiful place.
My Experience:
Suddenly, after office I along with 7 other colleagues have plan to go to a tourist place after office. As planned as executed. We informed each other about the timing then prepared after lunch. We bought two auto rickshaws to go over there. It took about an hour to reach there from our workplace by auto rickshaw.
If i mention in short the tour summary, First of all, we have moved here and there beside the Dam. Dam was locked except two gates. A little water was passing there. We have captured some photography nearby the Dam.
Then after offering prayer we have taken curd which is very special here. Because its made with milk not from cow but from buffalo. You will not find this kind of curd almost anywhere in country. Its famous and special here.
After that, we moved to the Air based power plant area which was very charming looking. We moved here and there beside the 4 wind shells. Then we have visited several fish projects nearby. After the construction of dam, water is projected thus a huge number of fish farming projects have been established here. Again, we started walking through the field in the direction of sea. There is a huge land area in between dam and sea. As it was dry up. We have seen a huge number of cattle and buffalo in the field. This was another interesting scenario to watch. Its really awesome to walk together and having some fun in the village road and field. We have enjoyed a lot. When the sun was close to set, we captured some photographs of sunset then come back to Dam again. There we tool refreshment and offered prayer. And finally get back by Auto Rickshaw in the evening. This was a memorable journey to all of us. It was a nice experience with gossip, walking through the field etc. Previously i visited this place in student life but this one was fantastic excitement and experience.
