Yankari National Park is a large wildlife park located in the Bauchi State, Northeastern Nigeria. Home to several natural warm water springs as informed by the tour guards that there are seven warm sparing located with the park but only one has been developed by the government for tourists, as well as a wide variety of flora and fauna. Its location in the heartland of the West African savanna makes it a unique way for tourists and holidaymakers to watch wildlife in its natural habitat.
With my group of hikers friends The Compass Crew , we chose Yankari National park as our destination for the trip. Trust me, we never regret our choice, as there are more to catch on tour to Bauchi state as a whole.
It was a fun road trip where we had some stop over along the way amongst are, The ASSOP WATERFALL in Plateau State, The popular Jos rock at RIYOM in Plateau state and many more.
A trip to Yankari will normally take about 8 hours, but we got to Yankari after 10hrs on the road, cos we had many stop overs. Since it's group of adventurers' trip, we had to make available for ourselves our meals without depending on the management of the place for meals so that eases our trouble for getting meals in time or satisfactorily and this also means we went with our chef. All thanks to Jalila for a perfect arrangement.
While at Yankari, we visited so many other tourist attractions around the Bauchi like the popular Sumu Wildlife park, The Tafawa Balewa Memorial Tomb, and many other places. Please if have any opportunity to visit Bauchi, do not miss having a taste of BAUCHI MASA. You'll also do yourself a big favour if you always lock the door of your tent in Yankari NAtional Park as those baboons knows how raid your abode a twinkle of an eye and made away with your valuables like a burglar would. But their aim is mostly the sweet items they could eat, hence you should never be found walking around with such attractive things as they'll definitely attack you.
And after four days, we set back to Abuja with everyone feeling happy to have made the trip. If you're interested in visiting Nigeria sooner or later, don't forget to put Yankari Nation park on your list and a road trip will make your experience worthwhile.
