Hello friends. During our trip to Klaipėda county we visited a miniature and botanical park called Babylon Gardens. This park showcases miniatures of the world's most famous architectural structures. We saw miniatures of renowned buildings like the Sydney Opera House, the Statue of Liberty, the romantic Trevi Fountain and London Bridge. And world wonders such as the Great Pyramid of Giza and the Hanging Gardens of Babylon are also featured here.
We bought our tickets at the entrance booth. The admission fee for adults was 17 euros. We then started exploring Babylon Gardens. The name "Babylon Gardens" translates to "Babilono sodai" in Lithuanian. This place is named in honor of the famous hanging gardens that once existed in ancient Babylon. The Hanging Gardens are considered one of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World.
We were greeted by an area filled with beautiful flowers. The weather was rainy and cloudy. Fortunately the rain stopped when we arrived at the park, allowing us to explore the entrance section of the mini park, but it started raining again later. The park was crowded. Despite the rain many people came to see the world's wonders.
Among the miniatures displayed in the park was the Trevi Fountain. This is the most famous fountain in Rome. We were very impressed when we saw its miniature. The miniature features the sea god Neptune along with two sea creatures. The miniature fountain looked beautiful. The only difference from the real one was its size. And there was a mention of the legend that to return to Rome, one must throw a coin over their left shoulder with their right hand. It felt like we were visiting the real fountain. The area around the fountain was adorned with lovely flowers and greenery.
Another impressive structure was the Leaning Tower of Pisa. The miniature of the world's most famous leaning building was very similar to the original. According to the information on the sign, the tower began to lean slowly because it was built on alluvial soil five years after its construction. Over time new floors were added to the tower.
The adjacent area was designed like a Japanese garden. However the rain prevented us from entering and it changed all our plans. According to the weather forecast, there was no rain expected, but it rained heavily.
When we reached the London section, it was raining heavily. We felt like we were in London and the music contributed to this atmosphere. We tried to escape the rain for a while in a small conversation area.
We were very impressed by the miniature of the Statue of Liberty. All the details of the real statue were beautifully miniaturized. The seven-spiked crown representing the seas and continents, the tablet in her left hand and the torch in her right hand were clearly visible in the miniature. Behind it, there was a miniature of the Sydney Opera House, but for some reason, it looked a bit yellowed.
After walking for a while we reached the China section. There was the Great Wall of China and the soldiers guarding it. We liked the flowers. There were many beautiful ones. The trees will grow over time; there are various types of pine and coniferous trees here.
We passed through the sections of Ancient Egypt, the Netherlands and Singapore. I loved Singapore. A little further ahead, there were French melodies and lavenders, which were very beautiful.
It wasn't specified what purpose this place served, but it looked like a Japanese style. Weddings could be held here and I think it would be a beautiful place for that.
We moved on to the Lithuania section, where tomatoes are grown. These plants reminded me of my childhood. We usually grew such plants during holidays.
The Brandenburg Gate and the Taj Mahal were also impressive.
We came to the Hanging Gardens, the Gardens of Semiramis are also here. There are different plants. The Hanging Gardens were located in Babylon, in present-day Iraq. According to legends, it is not known whether these gardens actually existed. I liked the flowers a lot.
Then we toured the Colosseum and other structures.
In the botanical section, there were various herbs: sage, lemon balm, mint, basil, dill, fennel and thyme. There was also a big shop. It was nice to explore here. It was a wonderful one-day trip.
