Hi there. In this next travel post our travel group head to Dayanta in Xi'An. This is near the Great Goose Pagoda. There is also a mall nearby. This was our last day in Xi'An. There was not enough interest in our travel group to visit the Terracotta Warriors or visit the Muslim Street Food area.
Heading To Dayanta Metro Station In Xi'An
Getting to Dayanta in Xi'An by metro is not too difficult. Make your way to the Dayanta Metro station on Line 3 in the Violet colour and Line 4 in the Teal colour. In terms of exit letter I don't remember. I think there is information at the station about how to get to the Pagoda.
Metro map below.
Dayanta, Near The Giant Goose Pagoda
When you exit the Dayanta metro station there is an open area. There is a KFC restaurant and other buildings.
There is this large red gate. It might be an entrance to a mansion or a historical building.
During the summer there are water sprayers to keep the floor cool. There are also statues in the area.
Joy City Mall
The summer weather in Xi'An was pretty hot. It was not as hot as Dubai's 40 degrees Celsius weather but 35 degrees is still pretty hot. We decide to not go to the Pagoda as there is a bit of a lineup.
We cooled down and had lunch in Joy City Mall. This large mall was near the Pagoda. I don't remember the restaurant name. One food picture I took was a noodle soup. The soup base was Tomato with some spice if I remember.
What stood out in one mall section was this large Monkey warrior statue.
This mall is quite large and there is a large variety of stores and things to do. They have a dedicated floor for restaurants (no pictures taken here as I forgot sorry)
Our travel group did like the Xiaomi store. Xiaomi is mega brand in China. They sell phones, tablets, computers, luggage and household appliances. It is like a China version of an Apple tech store plus some IKEA like products.
There is a Huawei store as well that has electronics and display cars.
The Muji store there is much more different than the ones in Toronto. Their Muji store is much bigger and has more product. They even have dried fruit like dried strawberries at affordable prices.
There are some neat toy stores too. They have this pop-up store (I think) for One Piece, a toy store with anime characters and Pokemon. A price of 199 yuan for a decent size Pokemon replica is okay. That would be around 40 CAD.
The Summer weather in Xi'An did limit us a bit. Visiting this mall was not in my plans but it was a nice surprise. It is interesting to visit China malls and see how they compare to Toronto malls. Toronto malls are okay but a mall like this in Xi'An is just much better. There is just way more to see and do in a China mall.
Thank you for reading.
