We've had a hectic few days since our arrival in Cape Town. I've barely touched the ground as we've been in and out of the city visiting friends and sorting kids for the holidays.
This beautiful globe can be seen at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. Absolutely amazingly gorgeous!
The girl-child is spending most of her holidays with the boyfriend's family but as it was her 20th birthday yesterday she also wanted to spend some time with me and the brother. We visited the waterfront in Cape Town and had supper at one of the many restaurants on hand.
The obligatory family selfie... My kids hate me for this but I don't stand down.
Just love the huge Christmas tree with my favorite mountain, Table Mountain in the background.
Last time I checked it was one of the 7 wonders in the world? 🤔 OK... I had to go check. I include a link where you can read some more.https://

I've been up the mountain cable car a few times in my life. The view from the top is spectacular!
You can see the clouds rolling in pushed on by the Cape South Easter known as the cape doctor... Or Die Kaapse Dokter There is an urban legend about a Dutch pirate called van Hings. According to the legend he and the devil had a smoking contest to see who could make the most smoke with their cigars. When van Hings realized he was in contest with the devil they both disappeared in a bolt of lightning and only the blanket of smoke was left behind. Hence the clouds rolling over when the South Easter is blowing strong.
Another belief is that whenever the Cape gets a lot of wind in summer the inland areas will be getting lots of rain.
Taken through a window so not so good but one gets the idea.
The big wheel at the waterfront.
Apart from visiting the waterfront yesterday we had another short road trip to visit the grandparents up in the West Coast.

The entrance to Velddrif where my parents live
The Bergriver where people fish from the side
A non-alcoholic drink because I had to drive back to Cape Town later that night
My father has some lemon, oranges, guava, fig, olive and a few other trees. My children as old as they are love to go with grandpa to pick some fruit.

All in all it was a lovely weekend. Today I got to spend some time with a very close friend and we enjoyed a nice lunch at a local restaurant.
It was so big we had to share. We had a super nice cheesecake afterwards.
I hope you've enjoyed this post as much as I've enjoyed the weekend. 😉
